This one goes out to Jody… you know who you are.
The documentary “Join or Die” (a reference to Benjamin Franklin’s political cartoon featuring a severed snake representing the disunited American colonies) is about why you should join a club.
And why the fate of America depends on it. It’s a very interesting documentary.
One of my favorite clubs is toastmasters.
Toastmasters club is a local, supportive group where members gather to practice and improve their public speaking, communication, and leadership skills.
They help build confidence, relationships, and in turn build better communities.
While I joined Toastmasters to improve my speaking skills, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that real growth occurs when we are not only concerned about just ourselves but that we’re concerned about the health, good, and growth the club and others.
And that is not only the secret sauce of a healthy club, but also a healthy community.
And that can move mountains.

Proud to represent Professional Women Toastmasters next to fellow Rotarians from Rotary Club of Temecula at this mornings State of the City.
And then I returned to my lab to make shampoo…
If you’re curious about Toastmasters, Rotary, Temecula; as well as aromatherapy or cosmetic formulation comment or dm me.

Freedom isn’t about getting whatever you want. It also means being accountable for your choices and how they affect others.
Freedom of speech comes with the responsibility not to spread lies, hatred, or misinformation.
Freedom to vote comes with the responsibility to stay informed and participate thoughtfully.
Personal freedom comes with responsibility of the consequences of your actions.
Freedom is demanding. Individuals must think critically, act conscientiously, contribute to common good, and resist being a passive bystander influenced by outside factors.
Freedom isn’t just about rights, it’s also about how we choose to show up in the world.
How we treat people, use our voice, protect truth, kindness, and each other.
We are more alike than different. Real freedom asks us to take responsibility for the impact our actions have on others.
Freedom and responsibility are deeply connected.
Memorial Day is a holiday that often involves gatherings of family and friends for barbecues and informally marks the beginning of summer— but it’s actually a holiday with profound meaning.
It’s a federal holiday dedicated to honoring and mourning all military personnel who have died while serving in the United States military.
It originated as “Decoration Day” in 1868 when citizens began decorating the graves of fallen Civil war soldiers with flowers and flags.
“In the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it.” — Barack Obama
As we honor the fallen heroes my hope is that we can move forward into a time when instead of waging war, we seek to find ways to live in harmony among ourselves and nature.

Anyone else feeling like the world has gone crazy?
Not gonna talk about politics but here in Cali I woke up to learn about a potential massive toxic chemical leak, concerns over an Ebola virus outbreak in Africa, on top of the news.
The truth is while I can be informed about all that is going on in the state, country, and world; there is only so much I can actually control.
Maintaining a hopeful mindset and steady manner can help me do the good I can do in my circle of influence and for my family, friends, and community.
I’ll share more about this in upcoming blog posts and classes but three oils that support my emotional wellbeing are bergamot, lavender, and frankincense. And this morning I spent some time just being — getting out of thought mode and using my senses to feel, smell, see, listen.
More on this - with suggestions for blends and rituals soon. Stay mindful.
What oils do you turn to during moments of turmoil? What mindfulness practices do you use?

Had so much fun creating aroma inhalers at a wellness event sponsored by Temecula for their employees.
I met and connected with so many lovely people. We shared aromas, laughter, knowledge, and community.
I even ran into some friends I hadn’t seen in years.
While social media and websites have their place, I most enjoy connecting face to face, offering direct authentic experiences to share with others who I am and what I do.
So no I don’t have content— I have memories and a full heart undistracted by my phone.
Had so much fun creating aroma inhalers and sharing about essential oils today.
What brings you joy?

I was on a call today and this statement caught my attention…
It was a group of small business owners who are makers, artisans, handcrafters.
And the person leading the call said something along the lines of “sure I know how to use AI, but if you call, text, email, you’ll get me or a person who works with me.
And as a cosmetic formulator I was struck by the fact that so many people want “natural” ingredients.
They shun “synthetics” and “artificial” colors and flavors.
And yet here we are with the capacity to create an “artificial” persona — and use AI to create content, videos, voice etc. to churn out like wonder bread and skittles.
AI is here, its useful, but like plastic we do need to remind ourselves it’s artificial. How are we going to make sure it doesn’t cause more problems than it solves?
How can we continue to stay connected to our humanity and the beauty of the earth. Personally I believe our health depends on it.
What are your thoughts about AI and its impacts.

Thyme lessential oil and herb in the spotlight.
Thymus vulgaris or Thymus zygis is a favorite of mine for cooking as well as aromatherapy, wellness, and aromatic formulations.
Love adding thyme to chicken dishes and salad dressing. Tasty and healthy.
In aromatherapy the many chemotypes of thyme can support the skin, immune health, respiratory health, and even be used to combat some pretty nasty microbes.
In cosmetics it can be used to create a balanced aroma and bring some cosmacueticals to the product.
Personally I have fond memories of creating a hair care product with thyme ct. linalool and other natural aromatics alongside a mother and daughter team and can’t help but think about those two every time I reach for thyme linalool.
Interested in learning how to make the best use of your thyme and other aromatics? Have aromatherapy or formulation questions?
Let’s find some thyme to connect. 😊
Yes I love word play and puns too.
Is there anything you’re putting off?
Anything that’s being silenced or ignored?
Maybe it’s your dreams or your voice that have been stifled or silenced
Maybe you’re ignoring stress or a difficult conversation.
Perhaps you’ve let go of helpful practices like regular exercise or self care
Or you are frozen, waiting for the “perfect” time to take action.
In life there is no shortage of things that try to make us feel afraid, inadequate, stuck, confused, or overwhelmed.
But the truth is we are more powerful than we give ourselves credit to be
And every step we take moving forward matters.
And it may make more of a difference than we realize.
If we choose to not act, stay where we are, we stay where we are.
Tiny intentional actions change everything. If we choose to act, to move outside our comfort zone, that is where growth happens.
What’s one thing you’re no longer postponing?
By 10:17 am you’ve already dealt with
* An angry customer
* Nonstop notifications
* 47 “quick questions”
* A customer complaint
* and you still haven’t even finished your coffee.
So during lunch you find space – maybe it’s your car, your office, a bench or table outside;
not to scroll
not to call anyone
Just to breathe and reset...
You bring out your aromatherapy.
Perhaps a relaxing and uplifting inhaler blend.
A grounding roll on you apply to your wrists.
One deep breath tells your nervous system – You’re safe. You can reset now. You got this.
Aromatherapy isn’t about luxury or just good smelling candles. It’s a tool we can use to support wellness and wellbeing.
A few of my favorite workplace tools are:
Aroma inhalers
Aromatic roll ons
Aromatherapy lotions/creams
Sometimes taking a small step to reset can make all the difference.
Aromatic blessings,
Tricia
