There are a number of scams associated with both Botox and Dermal Fillers in the United States, especially lately, the most recent occurring last week in Randolph, MA.

Counterfeit products are being used and serious adverse side effects such as, but not limited to, hospitalizations, blurred vision, difficulty swallowing, and weakness, are being experienced as a result of this. Avoid this happening to you by going over a quick checklist in your head:

-Check the price: Botox (produxed in either 50 or 100 unit vials, with the exception of Dysport, produced in 300unit vials) is typically priced anywhere between $12-$20/unit & Filler (produced in either 0.5mL or 1mL syringes) is anywhere between $350-$800 in MA. Anything significantly cheaper should be a red flag

-Check the credentials of the injector: your injector should be licensed in the state they’re performing their procedures. You, the client, can check their license through the health department & licensing boards

-Ask to see the product: Before receiving an injection, ask to see the product and packaging. Know your labels & their coloring, know the brand/product being injected and how much is being injected for your treatment each time
