🌟 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: DESTINIE PADRON 🌟

Destinie is another one of our Dual Credit Transition students continuing her cosmetology journey at Texarkana College! 💙✂️

For her, hair has always been a way to express exactly who she is. From pixie cuts and shaved styles to bright, colorful hair, she loves the creativity and individuality that cosmetology allows. Now, she wants to use that same creativity to help others feel beautiful and confident when they leave her chair. 💇‍♀️✨

Destinie already has her sights set on one of her favorite areas of the industry: vivid hair color! 🌈🎨 She dreams of specializing in bold colors and, in her words, adding more “sprinkles of color” to the world. She also looks forward to building connections with her clients, growing alongside other stylists, and one day becoming her own boss.

Her passion for cosmetology also has a special family connection. Destinie’s grandfather was a cosmetologist and would do her hair, help her choose makeup, and later loved hearing about everything she was learning in cosmetology school. His influence continues to be an important part of why she chose this career. ❤️

Destinie believes cosmetology is the future of her dreams, and we’re excited to watch her continue building the skills to turn all that creativity into a career!

Meet Jordyn, one of our incredible cosmetology students at Texarkana College! 💙✂️

Jordyn's journey is a powerful reminder that success doesn't always follow a traditional path. While many of her peers chose the four-year college route, she followed her passion for cosmetology—a career that allows her creativity, hands-on talents, and desire to help others shine.

Throughout her life, Jordyn has faced learning challenges that required extra perseverance, but she never let them define what she could accomplish. Instead, they strengthened her determination to keep learning, growing, and proving to herself that anything is possible with dedication and hard work.

Her story also includes making difficult decisions, embracing change, and discovering the importance of believing in herself. Today, Jordyn is building the future she's always dreamed of while inspiring those around her with her resilience and positive outlook.

✨ Student Spotlight: Britney Garcia ✨

Meet Britney Garcia, one of our Dual Credit Transition students who graduated from Texas High this spring and is now completing her cosmetology journey at Texarkana College! 🎓💇‍♀️

Britney's love for the beauty industry started at a young age with makeup, hairstyles, and trips to the nail salon. Over the years, that childhood passion grew into a career goal fueled by creativity and a desire to help others feel confident in themselves.

After earning her cosmetology license, Britney plans to continue her education by completing her associate degree while also pursuing advanced makeup training. Her dream is to one day own a salon specializing in waxing and work as a professional makeup artist. She also hopes to study dental hygiene, allowing her to make a positive impact on others through both beauty and healthcare.

One of the most meaningful moments in Britney's journey came after learning that her late great-grandmother had been a salon owner and cosmetologist. Discovering that family connection inspired her to work even harder and honor her great-grandmother's legacy through her own success in the beauty industry.

We're excited to watch Britney continue growing her skills and can't wait to see where her passion and determination take her. We know she has a bright future ahead! 💙

After overcoming personal challenges, Laicyn discovered her passion for serving others through beauty. Her experiences inspired her to create a welcoming space where every client feels heard, respected, and leaves her chair feeling their very best.

She chose Texarkana College's Cosmetology Program for its hands-on learning, supportive instructors, and commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation. Every day, she's growing into the compassionate, skilled professional she hopes to become.

Fresh out of Texas High School, Erin is one of our Dual Credit Transition students who graduated in May and jumped right into our adult cosmetology program to complete her journey at Texarkana College! 🎓💙

For the past three years, Erin has been developing her passion for nail artistry, creating detailed designs and sharing her creativity through social media. She loves helping others feel confident and believes beauty is about self-expression, connection, and making every client feel their best. 💅✨

Erin chose cosmetology because it allows her to combine her artistic talents with hands-on learning while preparing for a career she truly loves. She's excited to continue building her skills, expand her opportunities in the beauty industry, and make a positive impact on the clients she'll serve.

We're so excited to have Erin as part of the Bulldog family and can't wait to watch her creativity and talent continue to grow! 💙🐾

Some dreams have a way of finding their way back to us. 💙✂️

For Aleesha, cosmetology has been a passion since childhood, inspired by countless hours spent learning hair and makeup from her older sister. Those early experiences planted the seed for a career she's now turning into reality at Texarkana College.

Aleesha hopes to specialize in blonding services and possibly extensions, but what motivates her most is becoming the kind of mentor others can look up to. She wants every client to leave her chair feeling confident and every young person she meets to know they have someone in their corner.

We're so proud of Aleesha for trusting the process, following her passion, and proving that sometimes the best journeys don't happen on the original timeline. We can't wait to see where her talent takes her! 💇‍♀️✨

Some students begin their cosmetology journey after years in the workforce. Others begin immediately after high school. Mariah Gann chose to take the next step by joining Texarkana College as one of our Dual Credit Transition students, continuing the passion she discovered while earning college credit in high school. 💙✂️

For Mariah, cosmetology has always been more than just hair. Growing up, she loved experimenting with color... even if it meant sneaking into the pantry for packets of Kool-Aid to create her own vibrant hair colors! 🌈😂 Those colorful adventures sparked a creativity that has grown into a genuine passion for helping others feel confident and beautiful.

Known for her friendly personality and sense of humor, Mariah loves meeting new people and believes one of the most rewarding parts of cosmetology is watching someone's confidence shine after a service.

Mariah credits her dual credit cosmetology instructor, Ms. Kay, for encouraging her to continue her education and pursue her dreams. Her guidance gave Mariah the confidence to continue developing her skills here at Texarkana College, where she's building the foundation for a successful career in the beauty industry.

As she looks toward the future, Mariah hopes to create a welcoming space where every client feels comfortable, valued, and beautiful inside and out. We can't wait to watch her continue growing and making her mark in the beauty industry!

Dreams have a funny way of finding us when we're ready to chase them. 💙

For Carlin Whaley, cosmetology has always been more than a career. What started as braiding teammates' hair and styling friends throughout college slowly revealed a passion that never faded. Although she originally planned to pursue a degree in sports marketing, she couldn't ignore the joy she found in making others feel confident and beautiful.

After exploring several cosmetology schools, Carlin chose Texarkana College because she wanted more than just an education. She wanted a place where she felt supported, valued, and at home. ✨

Today, she's working toward a future where she can brighten someone's day with every appointment, build lasting relationships with her clients, and help people feel beautiful in their own skin. Her journey reminds us that it's never too late to follow the path that's meant for you.

Meet Stephanie Harrell, one of our amazing Barber students at Texarkana College! 💈💙

Stephanie's journey to barber school is one of faith, perseverance, and believing it's never too late to pursue a dream. After spending years raising her family, serving her community, and helping others, she decided it was finally time to invest in herself.

Originally from West Texas, Stephanie and her husband have been married for 25 years and are proud parents of four children. She discovered her love for barbering after years of cutting her family's hair at home, but it wasn't until life led her to East Texas that she realized this passion could become a career.

For Stephanie, barbering means more than learning a trade. It's an opportunity to build a career that allows her to serve others while creating more time with the people who matter most. Whether it's making it to a baseball game, a doctor's appointment, or simply being present for her family, she's working toward a future filled with purpose and balance.

Stephanie says stepping outside of her comfort zone and attending college for the very first time has already helped her grow in confidence, and we couldn't be more proud to have her as part of our Barber Program.
