🎓✨ Student Spotlight: Alisson Vega-Rosas ✨🎓

Meet Alisson Vega-Rosas, another one of our Dual Credit Transition students at Texarkana College! 💙🐾

Alisson’s interest in the beauty industry started at a young age, but during her freshman year of high school, she began practicing nails on herself and realized her love for beauty could become much more than something she did for fun. 💅✨

By her junior year, Alisson had the opportunity to begin cosmetology through the Dual Credit partnership between Texas High School and Texarkana College. After just one semester, she says the experience made her career goals feel more reachable and confirmed that she had found the right path.

What excites Alisson most about cosmetology is getting to know the person sitting in her chair. She believes a great cosmetologist should understand each client’s individual style, preferences, background, and what makes them feel confident. She hopes to create an environment where her future clients feel comfortable communicating what they love while also learning how to care for their hair and maintain their look at home. 💇‍♀️💕

Growing up around family members in a variety of careers, including entrepreneurship, also inspired Alisson to dream big. Her goals are to complete the cosmetology program, pass her state board exams, and eventually become a salon owner herself. ✂️✨

And while earning her license will be a huge milestone, Alisson already understands that her education won’t stop there. Every client, every service, and every experience behind the chair will be another opportunity to learn and grow.

We can’t wait to see where that mindset takes you, Alisson! 💙🐾

🎓✨ Student Spotlight: Marley Haak ✨🎓

Meet Marley Haak, another one of our Dual Credit Transition students at Texarkana College! 💙🐾

For Marley, cosmetology is about much more than hair. It’s about creating a feeling and carrying forward some of her most treasured memories.

Growing up, Marley and her mom shared special girls’ days together, often spending time at the salon getting their hair done. Those experiences taught Marley at a young age how meaningful self-care can be and how something as simple as sitting in a salon chair can make someone feel confident, cared for, and special. 💕✂️

After losing her mom at a young age, those memories took on an even deeper meaning. They eventually became part of Marley’s inspiration for pursuing cosmetology and her desire to give others that same feeling, no matter what season of life they may be going through.

Marley’s commitment to this career also meant making a difficult choice. A lifelong tennis player, she had committed to play at the collegiate level, but ultimately decided to close that chapter so she could focus on cosmetology and begin building the career she truly wanted. 🎾➡️✂️

Now, as a Dual Credit Transition student, Marley is continuing the journey she began in high school with a clear purpose behind the chair: to help people feel beautiful, confident, pampered, and cared for. ✨

For Marley, every client is an opportunity to create the kind of experience that can become a special memory of its own.

We’re excited to see Marley turn something so meaningful to her into a career centered around caring for others. 💙🐾

🎓✨ Student Spotlight: Kaidence Bass ✨🎓

Meet Kaidence Bass, another one of our Dual Credit Transition students at Texarkana College! 💙🐾

Kaidence began her cosmetology journey during her junior year of high school, turning an interest in hair and beauty into a passion for helping others feel confident. After two years of learning and growing through Dual Credit cosmetology, she graduated high school with a big decision to make.

She could enjoy one last summer before jumping into what came next, or she could keep going. Kaidence chose to keep going. 💪✨

In June, she transitioned straight into her second semester of cosmetology at Texarkana College, continuing to build her skills and work toward becoming a licensed cosmetologist. Looking back, she says choosing to continue through the summer was one of the best decisions she could have made.

What Kaidence loves most about cosmetology is the opportunity to make someone feel better about themselves. Whether it’s through a haircut, color, or style, seeing a client leave her chair feeling confident is what motivates her to keep learning and improving. 💇‍♀️💕

Her next goal is earning her cosmetology license, but she’s already dreaming beyond that. One day, Kaidence hopes to own her own salon and create a space where clients feel welcomed, comfortable, confident, and cared for.

We’re proud to have been part of this chapter, Kaidence, and we can’t wait to see where you take it next! 💙✂️🐾

🎓✨ Student Spotlight: Yareli Aguirre ✨🎓

Meet Yareli, one of our Dual Credit Transition students continuing her cosmetology journey at Texarkana College! 💙🐾

Creativity has always been a big part of Yareli’s life. As an art student, she earned awards, had her work published, and even had a piece displayed at the TRAHC Regional Arts Center. 🎨 When she discovered cosmetology, she found a new way to turn that creativity into something she could build a career around.

Yareli began cosmetology during her junior year of high school, where her interest in hair, nails, color, and beauty quickly grew into something much bigger. What started as a class she thought would simply be fun became a career path she truly connected with. ✂️💇‍♀️

For Yareli, cosmetology is also about confidence. She knows firsthand how something as simple as a new hairstyle or a little makeup can change the way someone feels, and she looks forward to being able to give that same confidence boost to the clients in her chair. 💕

After earning her cosmetology license, Yareli plans to continue at Texarkana College to complete her associate degree while beginning her career in a salon. She’s excited to keep learning, growing, and finding new ways to use her artistic talents in the beauty industry.

We’re excited to see where this creative Bulldog goes next! 💙🐾✨

✨ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: LAUREN LEHMAN ✨

Lauren’s passion for the beauty industry started all the way back in sixth grade after experiencing firsthand how a new hairstyle could completely boost someone’s confidence. 💇‍♀️💕 By her senior year of high school, she already knew cosmetology was the career she wanted, but it would be nearly 10 years before she finally had the opportunity to make that dream a reality!

After moving to Texas, Lauren discovered Texarkana College while researching cosmetology programs and says our social media page helped her see the supportive, hands-on environment she was looking for. 💙🐾

Lauren will soon become a licensed hairstylist and eventually complete TC’s barber transition program, a goal that holds special meaning because her grandfather was a barber. 💈 Her long-term dream is to open a home-based salon in De Kalb where she can serve her community and create a space where every client feels welcomed, valued, and confident.

We’re excited to watch Lauren turn a dream she’s held onto for years into her future career! ✨

✨ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: TALIA WRIGHT ✨

Meet Talia, another one of our Dual Credit Transition students continuing her cosmetology journey at Texarkana College! 💙🐾

Talia’s love for beauty started young, from doing her own hair to playing in her mom’s makeup. As she got older, that interest grew into a passion for helping others feel confident, cared for, and good about themselves. 💇🏽‍♀️💄✨

Talia began cosmetology through Dual Credit during her junior year of high school. After graduation, she chose to continue at Texarkana College to complete her hours and work toward becoming licensed.

Transitioning into the fast-paced summer program has been a new experience, but Talia says she has already learned so much and especially enjoys the hands-on instruction. She’s also excited to continue building her confidence behind the chair while discovering where she wants to specialize in the beauty industry.

💬 “Cosmetology is more than a job to me. It’s my passion, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.”

We can’t wait to see where it takes you, Talia! 💙✨

This semester may have flown by, but we couldn’t wrap it up without one of our favorite traditions... Down & Dirty Cleaning Day! 🧼✨

Our students traded their uniforms for pajamas and spent the day giving our entire building a much-needed deep clean! 🧹🧽

From classrooms and workstations to the clinic floor and everything in between, they worked together to clean, organize, sanitize, and reset our spaces.
It’s all part of closing out one semester and getting everything ready for a fresh start! 💙

Next week, a brand-new group of students will walk through these doors as we officially kick off the Fall 2026 semester, and thanks to this crew, everything is clean, organized, and ready for them! 🥹✨

There’s something pretty special about one group preparing the space for the next. 💙🐾

Great job cleaning, Bulldogs! 🧹🫧

Now THAT is how you wrap up a semester!

💙✨ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: MERISA GALVAN ✨💙

Sometimes the plan changes, and you discover a whole new path along the way! 💇‍♀️💅

Meet Merisa, one of our Texarkana College Cosmetology students! Merisa originally pictured a very different future for herself. She planned to attend university and study psychology, but when that path changed, a conversation with a friend brought her back to something she had enjoyed since childhood: cosmetology.

Merisa admits she wasn’t completely sure she had found her place when she first started the program. But as she learned more, she began to realize that cosmetology is about so much more than one skill or one career path. From nails and waxing to hair, lashes, extensions, and beyond, she discovered just how many possibilities could come with her license. ✂️✨

One thing that has remained especially important to Merisa is her love for nails. What started as a hobby now has the potential to become part of her future career. 💅

What we love about Merisa’s story is that she’s still exploring. She doesn’t pretend to have every detail of her future figured out yet, and that’s okay! She’s learning, growing, discovering new possibilities, and finding excitement in a path she never originally expected to take.

Merisa said it best when she reflected on going from having little passion for what she was doing to feeling “excitement and hope for my future.” 💙

We can’t wait to see which part of this industry Merisa makes her own!

Keep learning, keep exploring, and keep going, Merisa! 🐾💙✨

🌟 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: DESTINIE PADRON 🌟

Destinie is another one of our Dual Credit Transition students continuing her cosmetology journey at Texarkana College! 💙✂️

For her, hair has always been a way to express exactly who she is. From pixie cuts and shaved styles to bright, colorful hair, she loves the creativity and individuality that cosmetology allows. Now, she wants to use that same creativity to help others feel beautiful and confident when they leave her chair. 💇‍♀️✨

Destinie already has her sights set on one of her favorite areas of the industry: vivid hair color! 🌈🎨 She dreams of specializing in bold colors and, in her words, adding more “sprinkles of color” to the world. She also looks forward to building connections with her clients, growing alongside other stylists, and one day becoming her own boss.

Her passion for cosmetology also has a special family connection. Destinie’s grandfather was a cosmetologist and would do her hair, help her choose makeup, and later loved hearing about everything she was learning in cosmetology school. His influence continues to be an important part of why she chose this career. ❤️

Destinie believes cosmetology is the future of her dreams, and we’re excited to watch her continue building the skills to turn all that creativity into a career!

Help us show Destinie some love as she continues her journey toward becoming a licensed cosmetologist! 👏💙
