One thing for sure, those parts will be clean and the braids will be neat
It’s not necessary but it does something for me to set cornrows with foam. After oiling the scalp I’ll add some foam wrap to the braids, put a stocking cap on and put them in the dryer for about 10 minutes. This drys the foam and braid gel leaving the style shiny and flyaways tamed. Some clients do opt out of the foam (normally because they hate sitting under a dryer) and their braids look good and last so you definitely do not need to foam wrap them after the style. However I do feel like it adds a little extra pop

Beautiful braided ponytail for a beautiful young girl. No braid hair added and I did do a wash before braiding. Mom loves the way her hair looks with twists at the ends and I have to agree that it does look so good on her!
