The Villages Metro

The Villages Metro.
It takes 100+ neighborhood Villages and 130,000+ villagers to make up The Villages. The Villages Metro Area is that residential area, plus nearby supporting municipal, medical, businesses and activity areas. Also residential areas that aren't quite in The Villages yet, or didn't get included. The basic boundary of The Villages Metropolitan Area is Hwy 42 on the north, U.S. 27 (& Cty Rd 25) on the east, U.S. 301 on the west, and FL 98 on the south.

The Villages and Sumter County cooperate extensively for firefighting and emergency response, operating under joint interlocal agreements, unified command structures for major incidents, and shared regional training infrastructure like the joint training facility and four-story training tower.

Fred Funk Butterfly Garden, Lady Lake.
Very beautiful blossoms, I was able to see humming birds for my first time in person (too skidish for photos). Not many butterflies on my vist, and they were shy (and fast).
The gardens are open to the public for viewing any time. Church services are held Saturdays.
The garden is located at 231 Lake Griffin Road in Lady Lake, Florida.

Some stone pathways are currently under updating (not accessible with limited mobility).

Brown's Adventure Farm & Country Store
in Oxford, FL (just a short drive from The Villages). The massive Junk in the Trunk event on the first Saturday of every month. It operates as a "yard sale on steroids," where 200+ vendors sell items out of their vehicles.
