I came to Greece thinking I might finally have a little extra time.

What I’ve actually gotten is a completely different pace and a completely different focus.

More walking. More conversations. More moments that pull me out of my normal routine.

And maybe that’s been the better gift.

Sometimes we don’t really need more time.

Sometimes we need a change in what we’re paying attention to.

This week has definitely been that for me. And let's not forget...the cats!

I am on a trip with our church StoneBridge Church and it's incredible how much walking we've done. 😂

I am very thankful for many things during this journey. I'm not going to lie...I honestly thought I would have some downtime NOPE not been the case.

So today, no products, no recovery talks, no ingredient highlights. Just me, and this amazing moment with the Apostle Paul in Beria, Greece!

P.s. I am officially behind on my work.... I'm ok with it!

God Bless!

I think most of us see the word magnesium on a product and assume magnesium is magnesium.

It really isn't.

When I formulated our bath soak, I used magnesium sulfate, a USP Epsom salt most of us are familiar with. But when I developed our Magnesium Recovery Spray, I chose magnesium chloride instead.

That wasn't an accident, and I didn't simply take our bath soak formula and figure out how to put it in a spray bottle.

I was creating an entirely different product that would be used in an entirely different way, so I formulated it that way.

That's one of the things I find interesting about formulation that you don't necessarily see when you pick up a finished product. There are a lot of decisions behind that bottle. What form of an ingredient makes sense? How will the product be used? What else is going into the formula? What am I actually trying to accomplish?

In this case, I chose magnesium chloride for the leave-on spray and built the rest of the formula around it, including arnica and the 10 essential oils we use throughout Muscle Rehab. P.s. We took it a step further and used Zechstein Magnesium (the purest form on earth)

So yes, they're both magnesium products.

But magnesium isn't always just magnesium. 😊

Why the heck is Clary Sage in a muscle recovery formula? 🌿

Fair question. 🤔

When I formulated Muscle Rehab, I wasn't looking for a bunch of essential oils that all did the same thing. I wanted each ingredient to have a reason for being there and to contribute something different to the overall formula.

Clary Sage is a great example.

It's an aromatic oil with a very different role than ingredients like peppermint, eucalyptus or black pepper. Two of its key aromatic compounds are linalyl acetate and linalol, which help give Clary Sage its distinctive herbal aroma.

That's part of what I love about formulation. An ingredient doesn't have to do everything. It just needs to earn its place. It's good for you our amazing customers to know the "why" of what Muscle Rehab is.

10 essential oils. Different roles. One intentional blend.

Recovery advice can get ridiculous.

Stretch. Foam roll. Hydrate. Eat perfectly. Sleep eight hours. Meditate. Cold plunge. Sauna. Mobility work.

Good grief. I have a job. 😂

I'm not saying those things don't have value. I'm saying most of us are real people with real lives, and sometimes the “perfect” recovery routine becomes one more thing we're supposed to be doing perfectly.

I've become a much bigger believer in finding the things that help you feel better and that you'll actually do consistently. I find myself doing simple stretches while watching tv. Easy!

For you, maybe it's a walk. Maybe you stretch for five minutes. Maybe you drink some water and go to bed. And sometimes you won't do any of it particularly well.

Welcome to being human. 😂

Recovery shouldn't become another thing we're failing at.

The best routine? The one you'll actually do.

Keep it simple. Keep moving. Tomorrow is another day.

Why marjoram? 🌿

When I formulated Muscle Rehab, I wasn’t just thinking about sore muscles.

I was thinking about the whole experience of recovery, including the senses.

Marjoram has a warm, herbal aroma, and I chose it as part of the aromatic side of the formula. Its role is different from some of the other essential oils in the blend, but that’s exactly the point.

**Not every ingredient is there for the same reason.**

Ten essential oils. Ten individual contributions. Each intentionally selected for the role it plays in the overall formulation.

That’s something I want to share more about in our Ingredient Spotlights not a list of supposed “benefits,” but the why behind the formula.

Because when you formulate intentionally, an ingredient doesn’t have to be the star to matter.

Different role. Same intention.

Yes, the peppercorn. 🌿

When most of us hear black pepper, we think of the little shaker sitting next to the salt.

But black pepper (Piper nigrum) has a much more interesting story.

Black pepper essential oil is distilled from the pepper plant and contains a complex mixture of naturally occurring aromatic compounds, including β-caryophyllene, limonene and pinenes.

And this is where formulation gets interesting.

When I developed Muscle Rehab, I wasn't looking for one “star” ingredient surrounded by a bunch of supporting characters.

Every ingredient had to earn its place.

Each of the 10 essential oils was selected for a reason. Each brings something different to the blend, and I formulated them intentionally to work together rather than thinking about any one ingredient in isolation.

Black pepper is part of that bigger picture.

Its warm, spicy aromatic profile is very different from the cooling character of oils like peppermint and eucalyptus. That contrast, and the way each ingredient contributes its own characteristics, is part of what makes a thoughtfully constructed blend so interesting.

Think of it less like finding one magic ingredient and more like assembling a really good team.

Every player has a position.
Every player matters.
And the team is the point.

That's one of the reasons I love talking about the ingredients individually. They deserve their own spotlight and understanding one ingredient is only part of understanding the formulation.

And yes...

Black pepper really is more interesting than the thing you put on scrambled eggs. 😂

Fresh air seemed like a good idea. 😎

And honestly? It probably was.

Maybe you hit the trails this morning. Took the dog for a walk that turned into a much longer walk. Jumped on your bike. Went kayaking. Played 18 holes. Wandered around the farmers market. Or somebody said, “It's not that far,” and you believed them.

Whatever got you outside today, we're here for it.

You don't need a training plan, a finish line or a fitness tracker for movement to count.

Sometimes you just need a beautiful day and a reason to get out the door.

So go explore. Get a little dirty. Laugh. Take the long way. Use the body you've got to do something you enjoy.

And if your legs have a strongly worded response tomorrow morning...

They may have a point. 😂

What got YOU outside today? 👇

What on earth is DOMS?

Don't worry...it's not a disease, a diagnosis, or something you can catch. 😊

If you've ever finished a great pickleball game, crushed a Pilates class, tackled a tough workout, or even spent a Saturday working in the yard, only to wake up the next morning wondering why your muscles are suddenly protesting...

Congratulations. You've probably experienced DOMS.

DOMS stands for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, and despite the fancy name, it's something most of us have experienced at one time or another.

The interesting part?

It usually doesn't show up while you're exercising.

It often waits 12 to 48 hours before introducing itself.

Understanding why that happens can help you recover smarter and spend more time doing the things you love.

💙 We dive deeper into DOMS and recovery in this week's Recovery Conversation on the Muscle Rehab website.

Question for you...

What activity gives you DOMS every single time?

👇 Pickleball?
👇 Pilates?
👇 Yard work?
👇 Leg day?
👇 Something else?

We would love to hear it.

08/13/2026

Pickleball will humble you. 😂

You can feel fantastic on the court, chasing down shots, lunging for that ball you absolutely should have let go, and agreeing to “just one more game.”

Then you get home.

Or worse...you wake up the next morning.

Suddenly your calves have opinions, your hips would like a word, and the stairs seem considerably steeper than you remember.

Here’s the thing: pickleball may feel like play, but your body is doing a lot of work. You’re stopping, starting, twisting, reaching, pivoting and lunging, often for much longer than you realize because you’re having fun.

A little recovery afterward matters.

Hydrate. Eat something nourishing. Keep moving gently. Get some sleep. And most importantly, pay attention to what your body is telling you.

Because the goal isn’t to never feel sore.

The goal is to keep doing the things you love.

We went a little deeper into this in our latest Recovery Conversation: Why Pickleball Has a Way of Humbling Us. It’s on our website if you want to read more.

And if you don’t, you still get to answer the important question:

What complains first after pickleball: your calves, hips, shoulders...or something we probably shouldn’t discuss in polite company? 😂
