Sometimes I wish people could see what it really means to be a hairstylist.

Because in one week, we can experience an entire lifetime with our clients.

This week, I grieved alongside a widow.
I comforted a friend going through a divorce. Tomorrow, I have to say goodbye to a client who has trusted me with her hair, her stories, and pieces of her life for 15 years. (She’s moving!)

And somewhere in between all of that, there were laughs, celebrations, exciting news, hard days, new beginnings, and everything in between.

We are often the first to know.

The pregnancy.
The heartbreak.
The loss.
The promotion.
The divorce.
The new relationship.
The diagnosis.
The engagement.
The things they haven’t told anyone else yet.

We sit across from our clients and listen. We celebrate with them. We cry with them. We hold space for them. Sometimes we know what is happening in their lives before their friends and family do.

And the truth is, we see some of our clients more often than we see the people in our own families.

So when someone looks at what we do and thinks, “It’s just hair,” I understand why they might see it that way.

But I don’t.

I know that sometimes we’re not just doing hair.

We’re a safe place.
We’re a shoulder to cry on.
We’re a sounding board.
We’re a cheerleader.
We’re a friend.
We’re a constant in someone’s life through seasons of change.

And somewhere along the way, our clients become family.

I don’t take that responsibility lightly. Not for one second.

To every person who has sat in my chair, trusted me with your hair, your stories, your tears, your celebrations, and the parts of your life that aren’t always easy to talk about—

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for letting me grow alongside you.

I hope you know just how grateful I am.

Because being your hairstylist has never been just a job to me.

My beautiful bride-to-be is getting married on St. George Island this Saturday! 🌊🤍
The entire wedding party has been staying on the island all week, soaking up the beach, getting ready for the big day… and today they drove TWO HOURS to my salon for their pamper day and to get their hair color fresh and wedding-ready! 🥹💕
That kind of loyalty means more to me than I can put into words. They had plenty of options closer to the beach, but they chose Boho Beauty Bar. 🥰
I absolutely LOVE being trusted with such an important part of someone's wedding week. From fresh color to getting everyone feeling beautiful, it was such a fun day!

Busy week but I slowed down to post these BOHO BEAUTIES, some chunky hilites and an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL BRIDE 😍 🌼 🌸

There’s something special about the relationship between a hairstylist and their clients that goes far beyond hair. ❤️

That chair becomes a safe place. A place where it’s okay to talk about the hard stuff, cry if you need to, sit in complete silence, fuss about what’s getting on your nerves, celebrate the good news, laugh until your stomach hurts, or just emotionally dump everything you’ve been carrying.

And through it all, we listen. No judgment. No pressure. Just an open space for you to be YOU.

Then somehow, after the stories, the tears, the laughter, the venting and a little hair therapy… you leave the chair feeling a little lighter, a little more beautiful, and hopefully knowing you’re loved and cared for by your stylist.

This is what I like to call the OG stylist life.
We were built for this. Before everything became about content, followers and social media, it was about the client in the chair, the connection, the trust, and the relationship.

We don’t just do hair. Sometimes we hold space, too. And I wouldn’t trade that part of this career for anything. I absolutely ADORE my clients ❤️
