We have an answer! It depends on the type of procedure you’re having and the kind of work you do, but most patients return to work within 3–7 days.

If you have a desk job or work from home, you may feel comfortable going back after just a few days. If your job is physically demanding or involves heavy lifting, sweating, or wearing a hard hat, we usually recommend waiting 7–14 days.

This is one of the reasons your consultation is so important. Before you decide to move forward, Dr. Higgins will sit down with you to discuss your goals, your lifestyle, your job, and what recovery will realistically look like for you. He’ll make sure you understand the procedure, the recovery process, and what to expect so you can make an informed decision with confidence.

One thing we want every patient to know is that you’re not on your own after surgery. We schedule post-op appointments to check your healing, answer your questions, and make sure everything is progressing as expected.
