When I set out to raise $500 for the Mary Kay Ash Foundation through this year's MK5K, I hoped we could make a difference.

This cause is incredibly personal to me. Supporting research for cancers affecting women and helping provide resources for survivors of domestic violence is something I will forever hold close to my heart.

Yesterday we walked our MK5K. 💕🏃🏻‍♀️

And somewhere along those 3.33 miles, Sullivan asked me a simple question:

“Mommy, why are we doing this?”

So as we walked, I explained that we were raising money for the Mary Kay Ash Foundation — a cause incredibly close to Mommy’s heart because it helps fund research for cancers affecting women and supports domestic violence shelters.

And then I got to explain something much more personal.

Places like the ones this Foundation supports helped Mommy when she needed them, too. 🤍

That stopped me in my tracks.

There was a time in my life when I couldn’t see a way out. There were days when the pain felt so unbearable that I prayed God would just take me because I didn’t know how I was ever going to escape what I was living through.

I truly never imagined the life waiting for me on the other side.

And yet yesterday, there I was.

Walking beside my husband.
Watching my little boy smile and be silly.
Carrying our baby girl.
Surrounded by a life I once couldn’t even imagine having.

And explaining to my son why it matters to reach back and help another woman who may still be standing where Mommy once stood.

Talk about a full-circle moment. 🥹

I feel so incredibly blessed to be where I am today. And I will never forget the people and organizations that helped me get here.

That’s why the Mary Kay Ash Foundation will always mean more to me than simply being the charitable foundation connected to my business.

It’s personal.

It’s a reminder of where I’ve been, how far I’ve come, and why giving back matters so much to me.

And our MK5K fundraising isn’t quite finished yet. 💕

Yesterday we walked for the women fighting cancer.

We walked for the women trying to find safety.

We walked for the women who can’t see the other side yet.

And I walked with an incredibly grateful heart for the fact that I get to be here to tell my son that sometimes, when someone helps you find your way out of the darkness, you spend the rest of your life looking for opportunities to shine a little light back. 💕
