Speakeasy Color Bar

Two and a half years ago I moved my Speakeasy family to the unit that housed Stashes and Lashes. It was then that Kim and I spent a few weeks trying to figure out how we knew each other and then it dawned on us that we actually grew up as next door neighbors! It was then our two salon families became one unconventional, but full of love, blended family.

This weekend we unfortunately lost one of the most important parts to our family, Kim’s big brother Rob. Rob was not just part of our Speakeasy family, he was clearly a part of the whole Torrington community’s family. A dedicated police officer who spent years earning the trust of every single person he met on and off the force. The last year or so I have heard so many stories from a multitude of different people about how Rob helped them in some way or another. His help and kindness did not discriminate. He truly was put on this earth to be a big brother, friend, father, and husband. He was also absolutely hilarious the entire time I knew him despite what he was taking on —

It is with profound sadness that the Torrington Police Department announces the passing of retired Officer Robert “Robbie” Simon following a courageous battle with cancer.

Robbie joined the Torrington Police Department in September 2007 and faithfully served our community for 17 years before retiring in the fall of 2024. Throughout his career, he served in several important roles, including patrol officer, Community Policing Officer, Police Activities League Officer, and member of the Department’s Special Emergency Response Team.

Robbie was a valued and deeply respected member of our department. He was loved not only by his fellow officers, but also by the many members of the community whose lives he touched. His infectious laugh, warm smile, and unmistakable sense of humor will be greatly missed.

We extend our deepest condolences to Robbie’s family, friends, former colleagues, and all who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized. Additional information will be shared when it becomes available.

Rest in peace, Robbie. Your service, friendship, and memory will never be forgotten.
