It’s important to know the history and how we can move forward with acknowledgment. I am not saying to not celebrate family. What I am saying is it’s important to recognize the true history of what the day was built on, to recognize how it’s been pushed and commercialized to erase the true trauma and skip accountability.

Across the country, we are all waking up to the devastating reality that Trump will be our next president. This is a time to reach for each other, to feel together, and to recommit to our values: community care, solidarity, and justice for all.

Join SURJ, the largest organization in the US that explicitly organizes white people for racial, economic and gender justice, tonight at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT for a space of grief and rage— and to get organized to show up with everything we’ve got.

White people have a particular role to play in this moment. There have always been white people who rejected racism and chose solidarity and justice. It is our calling to step into that legacy in the days, months, and years ahead.

Link in our bio to register.

Register to receive a recording. ASL and captions on the call.

If the Zoom reaches capacity, we will be live streaming at on our page- Facebook.com/ShowingUpForRacialJustice and you do not need an account to view.

Dear white women: we’re getting in formation to stop MAGA and work towards the multiracial democracy we ALL need. We’re clear that MAGA authoritarians gaining further power in the federal government will be dangerous for ALL of us- especially people of color, trans people, immigrants- and that if they win, their victory will be carried by the votes of white people.

In 2016, 47% of white women voters voted for Trump. This year, it’s on us to organize our own to prevent that from happening. Earlier this week, over 44K Black women joined a call to commit to putting Kamala Harris in office- and we can’t lay the burden of “saving democracy” on Black women!

Join SURJ tomorrow night at 7 pm EDT at “White Women Against MAGA,” a mass meeting to get white women together to commit to doing our part in this moment. The link to register is right at the top of our Link in Bio :)

What are your plans for today?

For those of us cultivating an anti-racist lens and building our critical consciousness, celebrating the Fourth of July in the spirit of patriotism may feel distasteful in this political and cultural moment — and for good reason! ⁣
⁣
💡 We at Embracing Equity wanted to offer 4 suggestions for ways you can commemorate the Fourth of July without the traditional nationalism.
Instead, let’s consciously advocate and support with collective actions that truly embody the values of freedom and liberty.⁣⁣

Men’s mental health matters.

Don’t wait: Talk about your symptoms

There are common signs of mental illness in both men and women. For example, NIMH’s website says that warning signs could include:

Anger, irritability, or aggressiveness
Noticeable changes in mood, energy level, or appetite
Difficulty sleeping or sleeping too much
Difficulty concentrating, feeling restless, or on edge
Increased worry or feeling stressed
Misuse of alcohol and/or drugs
Sadness or hopelessness
Suicidal thoughts

Don’t “man up”. Speak up.

You don’t have to do this alone. We are here for you.

In the classroom, mental health isn’t a sidebar; it’s central to holistic education. When we prioritize emotional well-being, we create spaces where students feel seen, heard, and empowered. 🌟🙌

This fosters not just academic success but also empathy, resilience, and inclusivity. Though it requires effort, the benefits are immense: confident, compassionate individuals and communities. Let’s not just educate minds; let’s cultivate hearts, shaping a brighter, more empathetic future.

This mental health awareness month, let’s remember how significant the support of one adult can be to our youth. Take some time today to practice mindfulness and prioritize peace. 🤝
