It is believed to be the oldest known symbol in history...This is from Newgrange in Boyne valley Ireland.

The Tri-Spiral design, carved into a stone at the back of Newgrange's chamber, is one of the most famous symbols in Irish Megalithic art. While many think it’s from the Celtic period, this design actually appeared 2,500 years before the Celts arrived in Ireland.

At 12 inches (30 cm) wide, the Tri-Spiral inside the chamber is smaller than the one on the entrance stone, which is three times larger.

Professor Michael J. O’Kelly, who led the excavation and restoration of Newgrange from 1962 to 1975, called it a "Three-Spiral symbol." In his book, Newgrange - Archaeology, Art and Legend, he mentioned a local belief that the rising sun illuminated this spiral. Since Newgrange faces southeast, he investigated this during the Winter Solstice.

The Tri-Spiral inside Newgrange is an ancient design made of three connected spirals. This pattern has puzzled archaeologists and historians because of its balanced and repetitive shape. Some believe it might be linked to spiritual or cosmic ideas, though its exact meaning is still debated. The symbol offers insight into the beliefs of the people who created it long ago.
