To my clients, friends, and clients who have become friends,
I’m sorry for the appointments cancelled, rescheduled and then rescheduled again. This season of life has not been without its challenges, and after weeks of sickness and sleepless nights, we seem to finally be getting some answers. It’s hard to see your children struggle, especially when they don’t understand why. Even harder when you don’t understand either. Thank you for your patience, for standing by, and for understanding that family always comes first. I love you all, and am looking forward to healthier days. ❤️

Bea’s Birth Story: Last Wednesday, I woke up from a mid-morning nap (third trimester insomnia had me napping whenever I got the chance!) having contractions. They were inconsistent, so I went about my day, saw a client, picked up my son from daycare and made a trip to Costco. The contractions were present throughout- but easily ignored- as I text my husband “I think we might have a baby tonight”.
As soon as we put our toddler to bed, the contractions quickly intensified. I took a bath, and soon after was crawling around on the living room floor as my husband called our midwife Araya . She arrived around 11:30 and quickly got to work setting up, midwife Kristen and photographer Ash followed shortly after.
I paced on my front porch, hid away in the bathroom and then moved to the bed where I was able to breathe baby down in sidelying and on all 4s, rocking forward and back on the peanut ball. The midwives encouraged me to move onto the birth stool, where I felt our daughter abruptly descend within two contractions. Back onto the bed for a few contractions on hands and knees and then transitioned into a lunge to assist baby’s head around the p***c bone, where I was able to reach down and catch my daughter, bringing her to my chest at 1:48 am, after about 5 hours of active labor at 39 weeks + 3 days.
Due to a postpartum hemorrhage, I was transported via ambulance to the hospital for continued management. While this absolutely was not part of my birth plan, I never once felt unsafe, and was cared for by my midwife throughout the entire ordeal. I was back home eating and snuggling in bed by 8:00 am.
I am so grateful for the incredible midwives that supported me throughout labor, as well as my husband, mom and sister. I love supporting my pregnant and postpartum clients through my pelvic health practice, regardless of how they choose to birth their babies. However, if anyone is considering home birth and would like to chat about it, I am happy to share my experiences. We have some amazing midwives in Northern Michigan!
Stay tuned for tips and tricks on navigating postpartum recovery!

You know you’re a pelvic floor therapist when you pack a fold up stool in your suitcase for vacation 😂 But seriously, at 26 weeks pregnant 🤰, I’m not taking any chances with my pelvic floor health (please no hemorrhoids 🤞). When your knees are above your hips, your pelvic floor is able to completely relax, facilitating a healthy bowel movement. No straining, no constipation- even with the diet changes that accommodate vacation (give me all the poolside snacks 🤤)!
Don’t have a stool? A trash can on its side will often do the trick! Questions about your bowel health 💩 ? Feel free to DM or drop ⬇️

Last time my client saw her urologist, surgery was proposed as a potential solution. Luckily, she came my way, and WE couldn’t be happier with the results! There ARE alternatives to invasive procedures, and progress is possible! Have you been dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction? It’s never too late to address it! Feel free to DM any questions you might have!

I recently returned from a whirlwind weekend trip to Colorado where I attended a course through the Institute for Birth Healing. I spent the weekend practicing manual techniques with other pelvic health OTs and PTs, and even spent some time in a cadaver lab. I love adding more tools to my “toolbox” and consuming continuing education whenever I get the chance.
This week, I sent out mailings to midwives, chiropractors and other providers that frequently send clients my way, informing them of some concepts imparted by the course. After I popped the letters into the mailbox, I realized I was missing my greatest referral source of all, which is my clients- past and present. I am thrilled every time PeaceAble Pelvis receives a word of mouth referral, the biggest compliment of all.
You guys, I love what I do. And I am SO passionate about working with pregnant and postpartum clients. Postpartum is forever; whether you’ve had a baby 6 weeks ago, 6 months ago or 6 years ago, it’s never too late to begin to address your pelvic health. If you are preparing for labor, or feel like your body “just isn’t right” since having baby, or are even just curious about your pelvic health, don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to work with you!

Scenic views from country roads are one of the MANY reasons I love offering home visits. Between clients I have time to decompress, formulate a tentative plan for my next client, listen to my favorite music and prepare to show up as the best version of myself.
Happy Summer Solstice everyone!
