Robertson’s Hair Center in downtown Traverse City, Michigan is looking for motivated, full and part time barbers or cosmetologists, with experience in men’s hair cutting. Traverse City has been growing and changing for some time now. Numerous new businesses and round-a-bouts! Change is inevitable through the changing seasons and years.
This past winter, the Old Masonic Temple, on Front & Union was sold. The new owners have been doing a major renovation since January, both inside and out. Unfortunately, it meant the closing of our two chair barber shop on the second floor, effective this Wednesday. O’Hair has been there for over thirty years, so we are understandably sad to see it close.
But on a positive note, ROBERTSON’S HAIR CENTER (established nearly 120 years ago) will remain open throughout the construction and beyond. Please excuse the outside mess and upon entering the building. It will be over soon. Thank you to our loyal clients who have stuck with us, so far. We look forward to seeing you soon. As we carry on through these challenging times, Robertson’s Hair Center continues their efforts to keep up with the safety measures put out by the State of Michigan, CDC and the Barber Association, to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The safety of our clients and employees is of upmost importance to us.

When you come in for your prescheduled hair appointment, you will find that each barber chair is separated from the next and we sanitize the chair after each client, including the hair cape. We have a couple distanced, waiting chairs in the hallway, if needed.

There is a hand sanitizing station inside the door. Please avoid coming in if you are feeling ill or have a temperature and as always, wear your mask!

It’s official! Barber Shops in the UP and northern Michigan will be allowed to open, Wednesday, June, 10.
That means Robertson’s, Robertson’s O’Hair
and The Tonsorial Parlor, at Meijer, will all be opening that day. Appointments only- masks must be worn and a few other changes, will be announced here in a few days.

The governor delayed our opening, yet again! It appears it may be a couple weeks before we are allowed to open.

💈💈Is your hair getting a little scraggly and unruly ? Did your Mother or partner decide to use the kitchen shears on your once, beautiful head of hair? Robertson’s hears you and hopefully, help is soon on the way.

Unfortunately, unless we want a huge fine, go to jail or lose our license, we cannot cut your hair until the Michigan Governor says it is safe. As of right now, that is the end of May.

When we do open, things will run a bit differently for awhile. Masks, social distancing, appointment only, disinfecting between clients and more, directed by the CDC, State of Michigan and the Barber Association.

So for now, enjoy your longer locks and we will soon be taking appointments once again and catching up on all the local news that we’ve all missed! Look for opening notice here on our page and in the window of our shop, downtown.
