April 30th: Cass & Eighth Intersection/Sections Temporarily Closed

On April 30th from 9 am to 5 pm, sections of the Cass and Eighth Street intersection will be temporarily closed due to completion activities related to the 2023 reconstruction project.

Northbound traffic on Cass Street and right turns heading westbound on Eighth Street will not be permitted.

The detour route will be marked with signs. Motorists and pedestrians should be reminded that the Eighth and Union Street intersection continues to be closed for reconstruction.

WE JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW…

They are at it again, improving our roads. We are fortunate to be in such a great area with so many improvements coming but it is going to cause some temporary inconvenience.

Beginning tomorrow, September 18th, The City of Traverse City’s contractor, Team Elmer’s, will be reconstructing the Cass and E. Eighth Street intersection. It includes a full reconstruction of the intersection with new concrete pavement and brick crosswalks. The work is expected to take 4-6 weeks (1 or 2 haircuts for most of you).

During construction, the intersection will be closed to car, bicycle and pedestrian traffic. We have included a detour map for your convenience. It may take a little longer to get to us so you will want to plan accordingly. You will have access and can park on Lake Street (Hagerty/Rare Bird) or in the Old Towne Parking Garage. If you park in the garage, bring your parking ticket in and we will reimburse you $1.00 toward your first hour of parking.
