WHAT DOES “LIVED-IN COLOR” MEAN?

One of the questions I get asked most often is, “What exactly does lived-in color mean?”

Think of it as a more blended, dimensional approach to highlighting. Instead of taking your hair as blonde as possible, we create a soft transition between your natural color and your lighter pieces.

LIVED-IN vs. TRADITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

A traditional highlight is a great option if your goal is to be very blonde and bright throughout your hair.

Lived-in color is ideal if you want brightness + dimension, while still keeping some depth and having a softer grow-out.

🤎 MAINTENANCE

Lived-in color typically needs a major refresh every 12+ weeks, depending on your hair, goals and lifestyle. Glosses or smaller maintenance appointments can be added between larger services when needed.

Hi! I’m Megan🤍

I figured it was time for a little reintroduction since there are so many new faces here!

I’ve been doing hair for 7 years and I’m a stylist at Strands Salon in Troy, MO. I love creating lived-in, dimensional color, extensions, and I also offer barbering services. My favorite part of what I do is helping my clients find a look that fits their lifestyle and makes them feel like the best version of themselves.

When I’m not at the salon, I’m usually spending time with my boyfriend, hanging out with my three pets (my dogs Blu & Bear, and my cat Jack), reading a good book, or planning my next adventure.

I truly believe getting your hair done should feel relaxing, never intimidating. My goal when you’re in my chair is simple: I want you to feel welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of from the moment you walk in. Whether you’re here for a big transformation or just a refresh, I want you to leave feeling confident and loving your hair—not just when you leave the salon, but every day after.
