Blushing over a little glow-up 🫶🏻

When The Collective first opened, there was an idea of what we wanted this place to be. But you can only dream up so much before the people who actually fill the space begin to shape it.

Over the last few years, we’ve collectively created The Collective.

The stylists who have built their businesses here. The clients who walk through our doors. The conversations, the friendships, the shared wins, the hard seasons, the creativity and the everyday moments in between have helped us discover what this place really stands for.

Freedom without isolation.
Community over competition.
Growth beyond the chair.

And maybe most importantly: the belief that you can build something entirely yours without having to build it entirely by yourself.

Our old website told you what we offered….

Our new website feels a whole lot more like who we’ve become and our philosophy for hairstylists and clients.

So whether you’re looking for your next stylist, curious about our little corner of the beauty industry, or you’re an independent beauty professional wondering if there might be a salon home out there that feels right…

Come meet The Collective 🤍

The new site is live:

www.thecollectivetupelo.com

And to every person who has helped shape this place into what it is today, thank you. We couldn’t have written this version of The Collective before you 🙏🏻

Early in my career, one of my biggest mentors taught me that we’re not in the business of just doing hair, we’re in the business of people.

Nearly two decades later, I understand those words differently. We’re in the business of human connection…

Because no one walks into a salon as just a client. And no one standing behind the chair is just a stylist.

We both bring our whole lives with us.

Grief, relationships, money, careers, uncertainty, celebrations, who we’ve been, who we’re becoming…

And all of that exists in the same room where we’re talking about roots and haircuts and whether this time we should go black instead of brown.

Sometimes changing our appearance is just for funsies.. sometimes it’s expression.. and sometimes it’s experimentation.

And.. sometimes the thing we’re really trying to see differently isn’t our hair at all.

Beauty doesn’t happen separately from life.

Our relationship with our physical appearance exists inside our relationship with our *whole* selves.

And maybe that’s why, after almost twenty years behind the chair, I’m becoming less interested in defining beauty….
.and much more interested in understanding what it means to be human inside of it.

I finally realized why I’ve struggled to explain what I do.

Because it was never really about “outer beauty vs inner beauty.”

That language never really fit.

Hair, skin, clothes, makeup, aesthetics, yoga, pilates … those are forms of physical beauty.

But confidence.
Presence.
Self-perception.
Emotional safety.
The way someone feels in their own life.
The energy they carry.
The way they speak to themselves.
The way they experience being seen.

That’s non-physical beauty.

And the reality is… the two are constantly influencing each other.

I’ve spent 18 years working with physical beauty as a hairstylist.

But what actually made my work impactful was never just the hair.

It was the way people felt after.
The emotional shift.
The confidence.
The exhale.
The return to themselves.

That’s why my work keeps expanding beyond the chair.

Not because I’m leaving beauty behind…

It’s that I’m realizing beauty was always bigger than appearance to begin with.

Beauty is physical.
Beauty is non-physical.

And the most powerful transformations involve both 🪞🪩

I’ve started sharing more of these conversations, realizations, behind-the-scenes thoughts, and evolving ideas inside my VIP INNER CIRCLE channel.

You’ve seen what I can do with hair, but that’s not actually the gift…

It’s just where you’ve seen it.

For the last 17 years, hair has been the medium in which I express deeper gifts.

Because what actually makes me good at hair isn’t just technique. It’s the way I see.

I can feel when something’s off. See what’s not quite working. And more importantly, I can see what it could be instead.

I don’t just change hair.

I help people see themselves and their experiences differently. More clearly, more fully… more beautifully.

And once that shifts… everything else starts to follow.

Hair was just the most visible way to do that.

But that gift was never limited to the chair.

That’s what I’ve been building with The Mirror Moment.

A space where that same shift can happen but not through hair… through the way you see, think, and understand yourself.

Because when your perspective changes…

your choices change.
Your direction changes.
Your life starts to move more beautifully.

Hair was the expression. This is the expansion.

We all deserve to live our best and most beautiful lives while we have them 💛

You already know what outer beautification does….

You do your hair.
Your makeup.
Skincare…

And you show up differently.

More confident in how you speak, you’re perceived, and how you show up.

But there’s another layer.

Because no matter how good something looks on the outside…

if internally you’re:

* overthinking
* second-guessing
* stuck in the same patterns
* burned out

you still don’t live the way you want to.

You’re 100% capable but something inside of you is holding you stuck in place…

That’s what inner beautification is.

It’s not becoming someone new.

It’s removing what’s in the way
of who you already are.

The loops.
The hesitation.
The constant back and forth in your own mind.
The exhaustion.

And when that shifts, you don’t just feel different.

You operate differently.

You make decisions.
You follow through.
You trust yourself.
You’re energized.

And that’s what actually changes your life.

This isn’t even about beauty.

It’s about clarity.
Trust.
Confidence.
Your energy returning to you.

The glow that people notice?

It’s just the reflection of what’s finally lifted within you.

Doom scroll. Add to cart. Place order.

We spend $37 all the time… without really thinking about it.

Something to shift the feeling we’re in. And for a moment… it works.

It distracts by giving us something else to focus on.

But most of the time… we’re not actually buying the thing.

We’re in a loop, trying to move away from how we feel. Sometimes without even realizing it.

Because sitting with ourselves
isn’t something we’ve been taught how to do.

So we scroll. We reach out. We look for something to take us away from ourselves.

But the thing we’re avoiding… is usually the thing that needs our attention the most.

That’s what I’ve been building with The Mirror Moment.

A gentle, structured way to actually sit with yourself and start to see what’s been there all along.

A deeper kind of beautification.

The kind that doesn’t wash off.
Doesn’t fade out. The kind that shows up in how you carry yourself… and how you see yourself.

Because when that shifts… you don’t need the same distractions in the same way.

If you’ve been feeling that pull lately… there’s a reason.

You can look beautiful… and still not fully feel it.

That’s the part no one really talks about.

We’ve been taught that beauty is something you see.

But there’s another layer to it…

The part that determines whether you actually feel it.

One of my favorite ways to start noticing that difference is simple:

Take a love song you connect with…

and instead of thinking about someone else—

listen to it as if it’s about you.

Something shifts deep within when you relate to yourself like that.

Because most of the time when we feel:

triggered
anxious
restless
bed rot and doom scroll…
like we need to reach for someone else…

it’s not really about them.

It’s about the part of us that we haven’t fully met yet.

And when that part of you gets ignored…

it shows up as:

not feeling beautiful
overthinking
doubt
second-guessing
never quite feeling settled in yourself…

That’s why this matters.

Because no amount of outer beauty can replace the feeling of being grounded in who you are.

If you really listen to Mirrorball… it sounds like someone trying to be everything just to feel seen.

But the shift happens when you stop performing and start paying attention to what’s actually inside of you.

That’s the deeper layer of The Mirror Moment.

Finally being able to sit with yourself, without needing to escape it, so you can become the most beautiful version of yourself.

Volume I: Conversation is where that starts.

Because before anything changes… you have to be willing to hear yourself.

Next time a song hits…

try it.

Volume up 🔊 I’ve been using this song on every post about The Mirror Moment…

and it’s by strategic choice.

There’s a line that says:

“You should look inside yourself”

And every time I hear it, I think..

Yep. That’s it. 💭

Most people are out here:

• looking for answers
• asking everyone else
• trying to “figure it out”

…while their own mind just keeps them guessing.

Another line:

“I think you’re special”

And I know that sounds simple but it’s genuinely how I see people.

My clients.
The people who sit in my chair.
And the people who feel stuck, confused, unsure…

There’s something in them that’s already there.

They just haven’t fully seen it yet.

And that’s what The Mirror Moment is.

Not me telling you who you are or giving you answers.

It’s helping you finally look inward long enough to recognize:

👉 what’s already there

Because the truth is…

you’re not missing anything. You’re just not fully connected to it yet.

“Only way out is the way through”

That’s the part most people avoid.

But it’s also the part that changes everything.

—

Volume I: Conversation is where that starts.

Learning to finally sit with yourself in a real way.

If this song hit for you too…

there’s a reason.

You’ve seen my before and afters… But the real transformation was not about hair. Here’s what I mean:

In hair… transformation is easy to show.

I take a before. I take an after = You can see the difference instantly.

—

But what I’ve been building with The Mirror Moment doesn’t work like that because I can’t showcase that transformation in the same way.

That kind of transformation is experienced.

—

That’s why this content feels different than what you’re used to from me.

Because I can’t show you a “before and after” of your thoughts.

Or your patterns.

Or the moment something finally clicks inside of you.

—

So instead…

I use words.

Stories.
Patterns.
Real scenarios.

To help you recognize something you may not have been able to see before.

—

Because the truth is… the same transformation that happens in my chair?

It was never just about the hair. Hair is just what makes it visible.

—

The Mirror Moment is the internal version of that.

The part you don’t see in photos but actually changes everything.

—

Volume I: Conversation is where you start.

Not to fix everything or have all the answers… to finally understand 👉 what’s actually been happening underneath it all.

—

If you’ve been trying to “figure yourself out” for a while now… this will make sense.
