10 years licensed today 🥹✨

Hitting this milestone made me feel like I should share a little bit of the journey behind BellaMae Salon and the last 10 years.

10 years of trying, failing, starting over, doubting myself, and refusing to give up.

My mom encouraged me to go to beauty school in 2013 because she saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself yet. Not long after starting school, life took a really hard turn and my mom unexpectedly passed away. I took a long leave of absence and almost didn’t go back, but I knew finishing was something I felt compelled to do in her honor.

Getting licensed was one thing. Building clientele, creating a reputation, and turning this into a real career was another. I worked a second job for the first four years after getting licensed (second guessing my career choice every minute of every day) spent months at a time working 7 days a week, bartending and serving while taking every client I could in my free time. I said yes to early mornings, late nights, weekends…whatever it took to build my business from the ground up.

There were so many moments I thought about giving up. So many times I felt like I was falling behind or even moving backwards. But I kept telling myself that if I didn’t quit, one day all of the hard work would make sense.

And eventually… it did 🤍

BellaMae started with just me and an empty 4 chair salon. The name BellaMae translates to “beautiful mother,” a small tribute to the woman who pushed me toward this career before I could even see it for myself.

Slowly but surely, the salon team grew. Then came opportunities to expand beyond hair and create space for skincare, lashes, nails, piercings and more. With a lot of help from my handy husband bringing my vision to life 🫶🏼

Now BellaMae has grown into a team of 14 amazing women, and somehow 4 years in we’re already stepping into another new chapter.

We’re expanding once again! More stations, a full salon remodel, and an entirely new vibe that I cannot wait for you all to see 🤩✨
