The Moon continues its passage through the Pleiades region on September 30, pairing a bright waning gibbous with the famous star cluster in Ta**us. 🔭

⚠️ THE EXACT MOMENT IS IN DAYLIGHT
The closest Moon–Pleiades conjunction occurs around 17:39 UTC, or 1:39 p.m. EDT. That's during daytime across the continental U.S., so the exact conjunction itself isn't visible. The real opportunity is the close pairing later in the evening sky.

🌌 A BRIGHT MOON, A DELICATE CLUSTER
The Pleiades (M45) are a young open cluster about 444 light-years away, home to hundreds of hot, blue-white stars. Only a handful are easy to see with the naked eye, and moonlight will wash out the fainter ones.

Through binoculars, the contrast is striking: a brilliant Moon beside a compact knot of blue-white stars. ✨

From Earth's perspective, they look close together. In reality, the Moon is about 384,000 km away, while the cluster lies hundreds of light-years beyond.

🔭 HOW TO WATCH

→ Look on the evening of September 30, once the Moon and Pleiades have cleared the horizon
→ Face east to northeast; both climb higher as the night goes on
→ Naked eye works, but binoculars are strongly recommended
→ A low-power, wide-field telescope view also works
→ Moonlight will hide the cluster's fainter stars
