Adding sweet & Low isn’t new or a huge industry secret but that doesn’t mean everyone knows about it. I hope to share some of my knowledge with other hair artists who have clients with sensitive skin know that you can ease the discomfort of having lightener on the scalp 🩷

I’ve seen this done with Diet Coke and other artificial sweeteners as well and they work great because it is the Potassium bitartarte aka cream of tartar in the ingredients that have the reaction with the alkaline ammonia helping create a more acidic PH in the product thus making it less unpleasant for your client.

There is a reason why we tell everyone to not brush their hair roughly and recommend products 🫶🏼

Healthy hair has about 50% elasticity when dry, however if you have color/ heat treated hair you have less elasticity. When hair is wet the hair is a lot more fragile as there are other bonds broken during this time. When you brush through your hair in a hurry or in frustration (we’ve all been there 😅) you create what I call “ribbon” hairs, these are the hairs that have been over stetched and have effectively curled up like a ribbon and those hairs are what cause that frizz.
