Putting drill.
A coach from First Tee kid commented this. .... a drill with the better players that a pro showed me that he got from his college coach: place and alignment stick about 3' behind the hole; putt 3 balls from 2 paces out (about 6'). A ball that comes up short is one over; a putt made is one under; a putt that gets past the hole but does not hit the stick is even par; a putt that hits the stick is one over. After you putt the first 3 you flip the stick to the exact opposite side of the hole and putt 3, also from two paces. For round two you're back on the side where you started but now you putt from 4 paces, or about 12'. Same scoring: short = +1; holed = -1; between the hole and the stick = even; hit stick = +1. Keep alternating sides adding 2 paces each time. The object of the game is to get as far from the hole as you can and still be even or under par. Obviously the key to the game is pace control. A decent golfer will make some of the 6- and 12-footers and be under par. But then things get hard. Usually the putt on one side is a little downhill, and from 8 or 10 paces out it can be challenging to stop a putt between the hole and the stick. The game also drills pressure putting, because if your goal is to finish 10 paces out at par or better, by the time you get to those last three balls you've hit 27 putts from increasing distance. It's VERY hard to be any better than one under at that point. Now you've got three 30 footers and you can only miss one. More likely you're even and you ether can'tmiss any or you have to make a bomb. Great drill!

Most of you know we lost a friend and long time member of Upland Hills Women's Golf Association recently, Hope Farris.

We will always remember her smiling face and sweet hugs. Her family has invited us to her Celebration of Life March 28th, 11:30 a.m. at Upland Hills Country Club.

In her honor we are collecting donations to be made in her name to the SCGA Junior Golf Association. If you would like to write a check, make it payable to SCGA Junior Golf Association and on the memo line write girls golf. There will be an envelope in the club house for your donations or you can give them directly to Carmen Harney or Terri O'Brien. Please make all donations by March 20th, 2026 so we can present our gift in Hope's memory to her family on March 28th.

Please RSVP -
Text to 909 745-2036 and bring your favorite photos of Hope to display.
