Uvalde Police Department Participates in 2024 Behavioral Threat Assessment Group Conference as Part of the Guardian Initiative

August 19, 2024 – The Uvalde Police Department is pleased to announce that, as part of our ongoing Guardian Initiative, our Assistant Chief and our newly appointed Mental Health/Family Violence Investigator are attending the 2024 Behavioral Threat Assessment Group Conference. This important event is hosted by the San Antonio Police Department and the Southwest Texas Fusion Center.

They will be joined by multidisciplinary teams from the Uvalde area, as well as partners from across the country, to participate in this vital conference. The gathering focuses on enhancing the knowledge and skills of professionals working in law enforcement, mental health, and intelligence, with an emphasis on best practice models in behavioral threat assessment.

This free conference is a key component of the Guardian Initiative, our department's commitment to enhancing community safety through advanced training and collaboration. Attendees will benefit from presentations by experts from federal, state, and local partner agencies, equipping them with the latest tools and techniques for identifying and managing potential threats in our communities.

The Uvalde Police Department is proud to be a partner agency in the Southwest Texas Fusion Center Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Group, reinforcing our dedication to the safety and well-being of the Uvalde community through shared expertise and collaborative efforts.

19 de agosto de 2024 – El Departamento de Policía de Uvalde se complace en anunciar que, como parte de nuestra continua Iniciativa Guardian, nuestro Subjefe y nuestro nuevo Investigador de Salud Mental y Violencia Familiar están asistiendo a la Conferencia del Grupo de Evaluación de Amenazas Conductuales 2024. Este importante evento es organizado por el Departamento de Policía de San Antonio y el Centro de Fusión del Suroeste de Texas.

Serán acompañados por equipos multidisciplinarios de la región de Uvalde, así como por socios de todo el país, para participar en esta conferencia crucial. El evento se centra en mejorar los conocimientos y habilidades de los profesionales que trabajan en la aplicación de la ley, la salud mental y la inteligencia, con un énfasis en los mejores modelos de práctica en la evaluación de amenazas conductuales.

Esta conferencia gratuita es un componente clave de la Iniciativa Guardian, el compromiso de nuestro departamento con la mejora de la seguridad comunitaria a través de la capacitación avanzada y la colaboración. Pen 11- female, 41lbs, 3-4 yrs, very calm, sweet girl, Wanted cuddles, 8/10 on leash, no pulling or craziness, dog tested great!, a good grooming and she’d be perfect!.

Pen 3- intact male, 62lbs, 3-4 yrs, barks when he first sees you, but very sweet when we took him out, VERY STRONG!, 2/10 on leash, too much pulling for his size, no manners, can definitely knock someone over, did NOT dog test well, very overbearing.

Pen 8- male, 61lbs, 3-4yrs, mangy boy, friendly, still happy doggy, tail wagging and liked getting loved on, 8/10 on leash, no pulling or crazy behavior, went back into kennel without a struggle, dog tested great, excited but still stayed very calm and collected, he was a little nervous at first but once he knew he was okay he came out of his shell, poor baby has been through hell.
