Five years ago today I bought Mackey's Barber Styling from Dean Luke. It was a time of new beginnings for both of us. Dean was transitioning into partial retirement/having a barber shop at home and I was transitioning from the Salon to the Barber Shop world. It took some adjustments for both of us. I've had my trials along the way, especially with the pandemic shut downs and regulations, along with some others, but it all works itself out...
To say it's been hard at times would be an understatement but I've managed to overcome a lot of obstacles and adversities and I'm so glad I did.
Mackey's was started 45+ years ago by Liz Mackey, Dean's older sister. Thank you, Dean, for passing the baton on to me for this little barbershop. Also thank you for teaching me to straight razor shave. I will always remember the lesson in that!!! I still think back and laugh about what you told me to remember. I don't think I've ever seen you laugh harder about something! (But it's our secret) 🤫🤣
With your 50+ years behind the chair, I have great respect for your talent! You have definitely Mastered the Craft of Barbering. You are one of the best in the business! I sincerely hope you have several more good years left in you to work.
Doing hair, no matter the expertise, is hard work but very rewarding work and to me it never feels like a job. When it's my time to pass the baton to someone else, I hope they love and cherish Mackey's Barber Styling as much as we do. ❤💈
