The great philosopher Katt Williams once said, ā€œThe thing about prayers is only you and God know if they’re working.ā€ šŸ¤Ž

And honestly… if people aren’t occasionally saying ā€œwho does she think she is?ā€ or ā€œwhat the hell is she doing now?ā€ are you even really chasing the vision?

Running on God winks, audacity, and sunshine in this season of life. What about you?

What’s up MTV… welcome to my new crib šŸ†šŸŒ±

To be honest, I was fully prepared to let go of ā€œWild Rootsā€ after I sold my salon space- and then step into just my name brand after 20 years of building it.

And then my 9 year old said absolutely not! Because one day it’s going to be her nails and makeup on my clients while I do their hair … and she already claimed her spot along side me. So that’s the visionšŸ’…šŸ¼ What a literal dream!

Wild Roots stays but has evolved… this was supposed to be a small, intimate salon and it will be… in feeling✨

Let’s be honest, I don’t do anything small

I had a vision written out on paper, something I could see so clearly in my head… and my husband is bringing it to life in real form. every detail. every corner. better than I imagined! So blessed by his support in every dream I have. The good people and right opportunities flowing in around this project has been overwhelming. Truly a testimony of my husband’s good karma and heart!

This feels like my best version yet. Vvvvvery me. very intentional. very the vibe✨

I’m taking you guys along because when I started dreaming this up, I couldn’t find much inspiration from stylists doing it this way!

So if you’re building something of your own… maybe this gives you direction, inspo… or at least permission to do it your way

I’ll keep updating as we go

and one day… we’ll do a full fridge tour šŸ–¤

Also- genuinely would love your funky finds for wallpaper! Send them my way šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

Just some Sunday thoughts…

I started posting my work back in beauty school 20 years ago- before it was a ā€œthing.ā€ I didn’t have a plan. I didn’t know it was ā€œmarketing.ā€ I just loved what I was creating and wanted to share it.

Over time, that turned into something bigger.
It built my business. It created a life I’m really proud of.

But somewhere along the way, it also became… curated.
Like everything needed to look perfect. Way more curated than I truly am in person!

And the truth is- that’s never been the real experience. I’m a hot mess, perfectionist. Or something like thatšŸ’…šŸ¼

Yes, the hair matters. I love the hair! But it’s not why people stay.

They stay for the conversations. The connection. The kind of environment where women from all walks of life sit in the same chair and share real things- relationships, business, motherhood, the hard seasons, the growth. We laugh, we cry, we overshare, we sit in comfortable silence.

Over time, I’ve created a village. A little master piece of women who have become my support system AND my artwork.

But over time, I’ve also realized that the real work of art was never just the hair. It’s the evolution, the growth, the attention to detail, the intuition, the vulnerability to be authentic.

It’s you✨

So here’s to a season for a rebrand that reflects both me, and my people, and our value in similar works of art!

I think I should start with maybe doing weekly check-ins on the progress of our new salon home we’re building from the ground up. The messy middle. My favorite place in the transformation šŸ¦‹ thoughts?

Today, I closed a chapter that changed my life.

Six years ago, I took a leap I never even saw coming. I invested in myself in the biggest way I knew how—purchasing a building, building out a salon, and stepping into a role I never planned for… but one that shaped me in every possible way.

Wild Roots Hair Lounge + Boutique at 105 Woodrow Wilson Dr was never just a salon. It was growth. It was pressure. It was pride. It was heartbreak. It was long days, hard conversations, lessons I didn’t ask for, and blessings I’ll never stop being grateful for.

It built me.

Somewhere along the way, I became a different woman—stronger in my voice, clearer in my standards, more grounded in who I am and what I’m called to do. And while I’m proud of what I built, I’ve also gotten honest with myself…

Owning a salon in this way isn’t in alignment for this season of my life.

I don’t want to be pulled in a hundred directions. I want to be present. With my family. With myself. With the women in my chair. I want depth, alignment, intention, and not overwhelm or missed moments.

So I made a decision that feels both bittersweet and deeply right—I sold the building.

And today, my nine year old daughter stood next to me while I signed those papers. If you only knew how ā€œFull circleā€ doesn’t even begin to cover that moment.

I’m still behind the chair. I’m still ā€œWild Rootsā€. This brand, this vision, this heart behind everything I do—it’s not going anywhere. If anything, it’s getting stronger, clearer, more aligned than it’s ever been.

And I’m so proud to pass this space on to another stylist who gets to take what we built and expand it in her own way.

To every client, every stylist, every person who walked through those doors and trusted me with so much more than just their hair… thank you. You were part of something that changed my life.

This chapter taught me that success isn’t just about building something—it’s about knowing when to evolve beyond it.

And I’ve never felt more certain of where I’m going next.

The best work I’ll ever do is still ahead of me šŸ¤ -Tylar
