Life would be so much easier if the lights were turned down. Shadows are a natural filter, blurring imperfections. A 2 dimensional hiding place. Dim is way more comfortable. (See blurry, dim, comfortable selfie below 📷)

"New Year, New You" is floating around. We are told all the ways to BECOME. To change into someone more acceptable to the rest of the world. And our resolutions often fail because we tried but the NEW & IMPROVED didn't happen. So, we dim the lights or turn them off entirely.

And in the dark, we miss the sparkling, bright details that make our lives so rich and so worth living. We lose perspective.

💡 Keep the lights on. Shine in your unique, irreplaceable, authentic way!
❤ Know and accept WHO you are. (TIP: Not everyone will like you. This does NOT affect your value!)
🌸 Grow, as you better the AMAZING person you *Already* are. Heal. Thrive!

Can we talk for a second about a "Glow-Up?"
Lord knows that sometimes the transition from "Needs more coffee" to reasonably acceptable may take a few minutes inside the makeup bag.

But a REAL Glow-Up happens when you begin to:
•love yourself.
•honor the FACT that you were created with purpose.
•recognize that your soul carries with it more impact than your contouring skills ever could.

Lastly:
•help others to see THEIR value. The sun does not hoard its warming rays. The stars don't hide their sparkle. So, RADIATE! And watch your world GLOW-UP!

Life happens.

•You make plans and then have to quickly pivot because life happens.
•You set a goal and then have to reconcile with not meeting it because life happens.
•You work hard and play it smart but then life happens.

But what if life happens...
♡and you realize that your superpower is pivoting.
♡and you realize that you broke your own record, even though you didn't meet goal?
♡and you realize that while it is unpredictable, and has its moments of pain, it also has its breathtaking moments of beauty and hope.

There is no user manual for life. Like Winter and Summer, we have our seasons. Our challenge is to decide which filter to view them in.

The struggle is real.

Especially for me, who has yet to grasp on to the skill level that allows me to get that one, solitary, perfect selfie, without first taking a minimum of 35 "Bless her heart" pictures.

2 years.
2 years of being a shadow consultant.
2 years of having goals and dreams but being too afraid of failure to take more than a few little steps.
2 years of living inside my head, trying to avoid the dreaded sense of rejection.

Today, I opened my order of a bedazzled t-shirt and tote bag. It's something small, but it awoke a different thought that is a little louder today than the anxiety:

I'm not a shadow - I'm a force of nature!
I'm not full of dreams - I'm changing my reality!

And perhaps the biggest thought of all - not everyone is going to like me. Not everyone is going to love Mary Kay. But seriously - not everyone likes coffee either (Bless them!)!

So, why not be proud of doing something that brings me joy?
Why not share the things that I'm impressed with?
Why not not push beyond my comfort zones and see what's waiting around the corner?
