What is Dihydroxyacetone?

✨Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA is a colorless 3-carbon sugar compound that reacts chemically with the amino acids in the outermost layer of the skin called the STRATUM CORNEUM.

✨Sunless tanning products contain DHA in concentrations that typically range from 6% - 15% and can take up to 24 hours to fully develop after coming into contact with your skin. Similar to the way an apple oxidizes and turns brown after being left out after a bite or two. 🍎

✨After the DHA has fully developed on the skin, it will start to gradually fade over the course of 3-10+ days as the skin naturally sheds. DHA is known to be a bit drying, which is why you need a good full-body moisturizer to help lock in your tan to last longer.
