It's Wednesday, which means your shoulders have officially been up by your ears since Monday. π
Just a friendly reminder from your massage therapist of 23 years: those aren't earrings, and they're not supposed to touch your neck. π
Take a deep breath, drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw (yes, I know you just noticed it), and take a sip of water. π§ You've made it halfway! π

π It's football season, y'all! π
So... who are we rooting for? π
This girl LOVES her Seahawks ππ, but I've been so busy that I haven't watched a single game yet this season. Don't shame me! π I promise my heart is in it, even if my couch time isn't.
Here's where you come in! π
𧑠What teams would you like to see me represent on my fabrics this year for hot packs and more?
π Do you have someone you love with a serious team rivalry? Gifting them something in their team's colors could earn you some major brownie points! π
Drop your teams in the comments! I'm taking notes (and cutting fabric). βοΈπ

I'm gearing up for a bunch of holiday bazaars and markets this season, and I need your honest opinions! π
When you're shopping for natural, handmade goodies like soaps, bath bombs, steamers, and more... what makes you put something back on the table and walk away? πΆββοΈ
And no, I'm not asking about scent (I've got that covered π). I mean the other stuff!
Drop your answer below or vote in the poll. No wrong answers, and no feelings will be hurt. I have thick skin. π§Όπ
Below are some common ones I can answer:
π° Price is too high: I have recently checked what others are charging locally in our area I can say with certainty I am on the more affordable side. I do work hard to maintain my products quality at the same time as well.
π·οΈ No ingredient list or unclear labels: Every single one of my products are handcrafted by myself, and I always provide a clear ingredients and labels
π Packaging doesn't look giftable: I'm working on packaging that maintains a great look, but is earth friendly, keeps the quality of scent and the items overall quality. This is a challenge that we are working on.
π€ Not sure if it's skin-safe or good for sensitive skin: I 100% handcraft everyone of my items with high quality ingredients, my family has extremely sensitive skin and that's what got me into looking into making my own soaps with less chemicals and high quality essential oils. NOTHING IS SYNTHETIC!

π A gentle (but important) reminder π
This one's hard for me to post, but here goes β no-shows and last-minute cancellations have been happening more lately, and I've let it slide for too long.
Just a reminder: I do have a 24-hour cancellation/no-show policy. Real emergencies or sudden illness the night before/morning of? I totally understand, and those get handled case by case.
But starting Monday, Sept 25th, no-shows will not be receiving a warning anymore. You'll still get reminders via email + text, so please watch for those.
When I do need to charge a fee, it is a 100% of the out of pocket for the service, you'll get an invoice via email from me through Square, and payment will be required by your next appointment to stay on the schedule.
Here's why this matters: when a no-show happens, I can't fill that spot β the time's already passed. I have other clients waiting for openings, and it's not fair to make them wait longer. Plus, as a small business owner, it really does add up and take away from me and my family. π
I really don't want to start requiring credit cards on file to book, like so many other places do β but if it comes to that, I won't have a choice.
I know life is a lot right now. I just ask for as much notice as you can give me when plans change or you feel ill. And if reminders tend to slip past you, try setting your own alarm (same day, an hour before, etc.) so you don't miss your appointment.
Thank you for understanding β you all mean so much to me. π

What got me into making my own retail items π§΅β¨
A bunch of you have asked what got me into making my own products, so here's the real story!
It started with hot packs. I LOVE using them during treatments β hold the heat, work them into almost every massage I do. After enough of you asked where to get your own, I decided to brush up on my sewing skills (with a little help from some talented friends π) and start making them myself.
I experimented A LOT with fabric and filling before I ever used one on a client. What I landed on holds heat for a long time, doesn't scorch easily, and can handle being microwaved 4-6 times a day on the days I work. Mine get used that hard basically every day and still last 6-12 months β yours should go even longer unless you're as heating them up as much as I am π
Once I had the hot packs down, neck wraps and eye pillows were the natural next step. The eye pillows are a favorite for anyone prone to styes (hi, my kids π) or dry eyes (hi, me π). Those are filled with flaxseed instead of the feed corn I use in the hot packs to be more comfortable on the face, and I'm extra careful with microwave time due to their size and the flaxseed.
Then came the soaps! I took a local soap-making class, completely fell for it, and started making small-batch, natural soap for my own family. It didn't take long to think "my clients would love this too." Bonus: they're vegan and cut down on plastic waste π±
And once I was in that deep, of course I had to try bath bombs and steamers too. Here we are!
Fun fact: my husband and I used to make bath salts as gifts for friends and family years ago, so... don't be surprised if those make a comeback at some point. I just need more shelf space! π They may end up being a market/bazaar exclusive as I add a few of those to the schedule this holiday season.

Okay, it's time I finally explain the skeletons. π
If you've been to my studio (or stalked my page even a little), you've met Shelly, Ozzy, and Fred β my resident bone crew. And I get asked about them constantly, usually with a raised eyebrow and a "...so what's the deal with the skeletons?"
Here's the truth: it's not really a Halloween thing. Okay, it's a little bit a Halloween thing. π But mostly? I stare at muscles, bones, and connective tissue for a living, and after 23 years I still think the human body is wildly fascinating. Shelly, Ozzy, and Fred are basically my coworkers β
So when you see them popping up on my page, know that they're not just decoration. They're anatomy nerds, just like me. And honestly? They're better behaved than most coworkers I've had. π
Anyway β that's the origin story. Any requests for what Shelly, Ozzy, or Fred should teach you about, because I *MAY* start enlisting their help showing you guys different things to help you understand your body and self care? π
