Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” That term, “born again,” means that man has already had a natural birth but now must have a spiritual birth, which comes by faith in Christ and is available to all. The born-again experience is a radical, life-changing transformation. When we get saved, we are not who we used to be. We don’t do the things we used to do. We don’t talk the way we used to talk. We don’t act the way we used to act. We don’t listen to the things we used to listen to. We don’t have the same friends that we used to have. There is going to be evidence that a person has truly accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. Again, being born again is a complete and radical transformation. The Bible says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” When you say yes to Christ and become born again, there is a change so deep, so clear, so entire, and so abiding, that it is proper to say, “Here is a new creation of God—a work of the divine power as decided and as glorious as when God created all things out of nothing."

Bread Crumbs “I Am Not Ashamed” September 2

When a person finds something that they can depend on, that is very special. When they experience something that never fails, something that never falls short of its promise, something that never leaves them disappointed, then they have located something that they need never be ashamed of. I am glad to report that God has always delivered on everything that He has ever promised me. In the Gospel I have found and experienced supernatural grace for salvation and the provision and power to be progressively sanctified. I have comfort of knowing that no matter my performance, God will always stay right by my side. He has never deserted me. At times He has chastised me. But I know from His Word that He only chastises those He loves. He has never failed to guide or strengthen me. In every situation He has watched over my well-being and done for me what I could not do for myself. The bottom line is, I am not ashamed to proclaim Jesus Christ as my Savior, God as my Father, and the Holy Spirit as my Comforter. I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ! He has been so very good to me! And He always does whatever He has promised!

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Bread Crumbs “A New Creation” August 29

If you are a believer, the Word of God says that you are a new creation in Christ. What exactly does that mean? Do you realize that God literally produces a brand-new race of human being whenever He spiritually re-creates the believing sinner? When an individual recognizes his sinful state and looks by faith to Jesus as his Savior, the Spirit of God immediately baptizes that individual into the person of Christ. They become one with Him. They are united with Christ. But then, the Holy Spirit does reconstructive surgery on the inner man. The soul, which is the part of man that feels, is given brand-new desires. The spirit, which is the part of man that knows, is equipped to continually communicate with God. The old hardened heart is replaced with a soft pliable heart, one that can be molded and shaped for the purposes of God. The Holy Spirit Himself then takes up residence within the framework of this new creation and becomes the master teacher and the power source for each and every believer. Are you in Christ? Call on His name, He will not turn you away! And the promise of abundant life, the like you cannot even imagine, will surely become yours!

When the trump of God sounds and the rapture takes place, what will it be like for those who are left? When millions of people suddenly go missing, common sense tells us that this world will react in chaos and fear. Many will know exactly what has taken place. They will know that the rapture has happened, that the true church is gone, and they have been left. I can imagine no greater horror. Churches that no one cared about the day before will suddenly fill with people who knew about Jesus but never believed in Him or what He did for them at the cross. Surely these will cry out to God with bitter tears of regret, asking the Lord to forgive them. Will it be possible for people to still be saved? Yes, the Holy Spirit will still be on the earth, but it’s going to be a horrible, horrible time. If you think the days are evil now, imagine what it will be like when the Christians who were praying for the darkness to be held back, who were asking for God to show mercy, who were loving the Lord, worshipping Him, being salt and being light—they’ll be gone. But thank God, this isn’t something that anybody has to go through. The Bible says, “Today is the day of salvation.” Don’t wait. Make your choice now to give your heart to Christ before it really is too late.
