Some things are just better left to the pros.
Brow lamination might be one of them😅
And before anyone comes for me, yes, I have her full permission to use her DIY brow disaster as a cautionary tale😂
The first two photos are what happened when she decided to try an at-home brow lamination.
She got distracted and left the solution on too long😱
And because brow lamination is a chemical process that changes the structure of the hair, “a little extra processing time” does not mean a little extra laminated.
Her brow hairs became overprocessed, crispy and squiggly.
Think: uncooked ramen noodles🍜
Then came the trimming✂️
She trimmed the tops of her brows to create a clean shape, but natural brow hairs have beautifully tapered ends. Once you cut those off, you’re left with blunt ends that can create an uneven top line and don’t always grow out nicely alongside the untouched hairs.
This is one reason I generally prefer to style the hairs into the shape I want instead of cutting the shape into the hairs.
And finally…the tint.
It was applied outside the natural outline of the brow and processed too dark, leaving a blocky shape with uneven staining on the skin.
Now swipe over to the professional lamination👀
Same person. Same brows. Months later, after the damaged hairs had completely grown out.
✅Smooth, flexible brow hairs.
✅A shape created through intentional placement and styling.
✅Soft, tapered ends left intact.
✅And tint carefully placed to enhance the brow instead of overpowering it.
Because the difference between an at-home kit and a professional brow lamination isn’t simply who applies the product.
It’s knowing how to assess the hair, how long to process it, when it’s ready, how to manipulate it into the right shape, and how to tint it cleanly.
Could you laminate your brows at home? Absolutely.
🚨Should you? Well…she gave me permission to show you these photos for a reason😂

“I don’t want people to be shocked when I walk in.”😅
Her exact words. And I honestly think that’s a perfect explanation of what “natural but noticeable” actually means.
She had never had lash extensions before, but after her makeup trial, she knew one thing: strip lashes were NOT going to be part of the wedding day plan.
They were annoying, uncomfy, and just not something she wanted to deal with on her big day.
So, she needed another option!
Her wedding makeup was a beautiful, super natural soft glam, and she didn’t want her lashes to compete with it or overpower her features.
She wanted enough lash to define her eyes and show up beautifully in photos, without everyone immediately thinking, “Oh! She got lashes!”
And for a blonde with those bright, clear blue eyes? I immediately thought dark chocolate brown instead of black. 🍫
I showed her a few examples of brown vs. black lash sets, and once she saw the difference, she was sold.
Then we talked style.
Because natural was the keyword, I narrowed it down to Classic or Wet Set. But I was leaning Wet Set for one very important reason:
These weren’t just everyday lashes. These were ✨wedding lashes✨
A Wet Set still gives that delicate, individual-lash look of Classics, but with a little more density, a little more styling power, and better longevity. Just enough extra oomph to hold its own in professional photos without suddenly turning her soft glam into GLAM glam.
And with professional makeup, happy tears, a long wedding day, and the events surrounding it, I wanted to give her a set that could handle a little shedding without leaving obvious gaps.
The final result was exactly what we were going for🤎
That deep chocolate brown gave her eyes plenty of definition, but kept everything soft and harmonious. And against those blue eyes? STUNNIN’!
But possibly my favorite part was what she said when we finished:
“I can’t even feel them.”🤗🤗🤗
No uncomfortable strip lashes. No dramatic lash transformation that didn’t feel like her. Just soft, chocolate-brown lashes that gave her a little something extra while still letting her be the first thing people noticed when she walked in🥹🤎

Meet the Goldilocks of lash extensions👧🏼🐻✨
Not too little. Not too much. Juuuust right.
A Wet Set sits in that sweet spot between Classic and Volume. Closed fans give you more density and definition than Classic, without the fluffy fullness of open-fan Volume.
But “just right” doesn’t have to mean boring.
For this set, I used longer lengths and stretched the shape into a cat eye, giving her that clean Wet Set definition with a little extra drama.
Perfect when Classic feels like not quite enough, but Volume feels like a little too much🤌
Color lashes😎

✨This is what dreams are made of✨
She had tickets to see Hilary Duff and one very important goal: fulfill every single one of her childhood Y2K dreams through her lashes💿💖✨
And then she did something no client has ever done before…
She sent ME the mood boards😂
Not one, but TWO. One for the overall Hilary/Y2K vibe and another for her concert outfit.
Usually I’m the one showing up with the mood board, so obviously I was thrilled.
She knew she wanted to keep a dark base because she loves the definition it gives her eyes, but this for Hilary. We were NAWT stopping at dark lashes.
So I pulled the color palette directly from her inspiration and built the whole set around it.
💜 A rich purple base to keep that depth and definition
🩷🧡❤️ Neon pink, orange and red sprinkled throughout
〰️ A wavy statement stripe using those same colors for a big graphic POP
I love that repeating the same pink, orange and red in two completely different textures makes the stripe feel like part of the set instead of something sitting on top of it.
And obviously, lash tinsel was mandatory✨
I added matte metallic pink anime tinsel for bigger flashes of shine, then tucked thin metallic red tinsel throughout for those tiny glimmers that catch the light when she moves.
The final look feels like someone took the Disney Channel, a Limited Too shopping spree, a Hilary Duff poster-covered bedroom wall and a little bit of concert lighting, and turned it all into a lash set.
THIS is what dreams are made of💖💿✨

I stopped doing full sets😱
Okay, I didn’t stop doing full sets😂
I stopped making you decide whether you need Classic, Hybrid, or Volume before you’ve even walked inside the door.
And this client is the perfect example of why.
Her bestie has been coming to me for a long time, and after admiring her lashes, she finally decided it was her turn.
She had never worn extensions before, and her biggest concern was that they might feel like too much. Her makeup routine was already pretty minimal, so she wanted something natural and but noticeable.
✨Which is probably the most common request I hear from first-time lash clients.✨
So we started with a Hybrid set.
But I did give her one warning⚠️:
Everyone who tells me, “I don’t want them too long or too full,” seems to come back to their first fill saying, “Okayyyy…I think I want a little more.” 😂
And guess what happened?
She wanted a little more.
More length. More density. More LASH.
So we switched her from Hybrid to Volume.
And eventually, the girl who was worried lashes might be “too much” started asking me to sprinkle in vivid colors and metallic lash tinsel✨😂
And THAT is exactly why I changed the way you book full sets with me.
You used to have to choose your lash style before you came in.
But how are you supposed to know which one you need?
You don’t. That’s my job.
Now you simply book a Traditional Full Set, and we figure out the rest together.
During your consultation, we’ll talk about your makeup routine, how noticeable you want your lashes to be, your natural lashes, your eye shape, and the overall look you’re hoping for.
Then I can customize the technique, length, fullness, texture, color, and shape specifically for you.
And nothing says we have to keep it the same forever.
Want more? We add more. Want less? We soften it. Want to try a different shape? Let’s try it.
Want to go from “please keep them natural” to “can we add colorful lashes🌈 and shiny things✨?” We can do that too. 😂
Your first lash set doesn’t have to be your forever lash set.
Finding ✨YOUR✨ lashes is part of the fun🤸🏻

Minimalism has left the chat. This is maximalist lash art.
Black laser printed anime lashes? Immediately, yes.
Mermaid holographic blue green tinsel? Put it in the cart.
A tiny star charm? I need it right NEOW.
A blue and green ombre wavy skunk stripe? I want to go to there.
I think this set proves sometimes more really is more.
There are so many different colors, textures, shapes, and finishes happening here, but each one bring something different to the design.
The laser printed anime Lashes create sharp, graphic peaks throughout the set, while the holographic tinsel flashes between blue, green, and every mermaid-y shade in between🧜♀️
Then there’s the wavy skunk stripe…
Instead of using just neon green, I added two types of blue and green ombre wavy lashes, one tipped with blue and one tipped with green. The ombre and the wavy fibers paired together, almost look like little electric currents, running through the lashes.
And finally, in the spirit of maximizing, the whole Lash look, we added a star charm🌟
It’s tiny, it’s dainty, and it kind of looks like the cutest little beauty mark, you ever did see.
Is it necessary? Probably not.
Is it delightful? Absolutely. Gimme 14 of ’em right now.
I know there’s a lot happening here, but that’s kinda the point.
Every texture, color, shine, shape, and tiny detail gives your eye somewhere new to look.
Sometimes a lash set doesn’t need to choose between anime spikes, color, tinsel, texture, charms, or a skunk stripe.
Sometimes the answer is simply, Give it to me, Rachel.

Before she was a constellation, she was a star🦢✨
I originally created this set for the The Lash Ritual | Professional Color Lash Extensions x Borboleta Pro Cosmos competition, but ultimately decided to take my entry in a different direction. And while she never made it into the competition, she absolutely still deserves her moment.
My inspiration was Cygnus, the swan constellation, and I wanted the two eyes to tell two versions of the same story.
On one eye, she still belongs to the water🌊
A white swan glides through moody blue gray waves, with her grand tail feathers sweeping upward to create a sharp structured wing on the outer corner.
On the opposite end, her head curves into the inner corner of the eye. A flash of orange creates her bill while an exaggerated black point mimics the beautiful almost eyeliner-like marking that frames a swan eye.
And then, on the other eye, she becomes a constellation🌟
A dark inky blue creates the night sky, with lighter blues and smoky grays, concentrated through the outer wing to mimic that hazy glow you see when stars cluster together in the darkness.
Even though each eye tells a completely different part of the story, I intentionally carried some of the same colors across both sides just used and very different ways.
The blues and grays that create the moody water on one eye become the depth and hazy glow of the night sky on the other, bringing balance and harmony to otherwise asymmetrical design.
I also mirrored the swans sharp black inner corner with an inky blue point on the constellation Eye. It’s another small detail that visually connects the two sides while quietly nodding back to that distinctive swan eyeliner.
finally, holographic stars trace the shape of Cygnus across the Lashes, turning the swan from something swimming below into something shining above.
On one eye, the swan belongs to the water. On the other, she belongs to the cosmos.
The swan doesn’t simply admire the stars, she becomes one✨
