And sometimes, even after we are no longer in the face of threat, we may not have perceived any safety. We may not have any sense of direction to find any cues of safety inside our system or in our environments.

If this sounds familiar, you aren’t alone. The proverbial bear might still be in the room with you (at least for your body). And I want to tenderly remind you that you are so resilient. And your body just needs a little space and love to find ways to increase your capacity for safety.

If you could imagine the place that feels the most safe, where is that? What if there was a place on the inside or on the outside? If there’s not a place that feels safe, is there a place that feels more spacious and supportive to you? Where might that be?

PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) tears occur due to trauma, such as automobile accidents, or falling on the knee when bent. They are common sports-related injuries and usually cause severe pain and disability. Recovery can take from 9-12 months.

Massage therapy complements physical therapy. Some of the physical benefits of massage therapy include:

Shoulder pain can be caused by repetitive movements or lifting overhead (overuse) with faulty biomechanics. It’s common in athletes but it can also seem to occur spontaneously with no apparent cause. Ooooh yay, now what?! Welp, there are almost always muscle imbalances present around the shoulder leading to abnormal biomechanics. In this case, her pain was primarily caused by her wrist.

Usually the scapula is sitting in a poor position it is winged or protracted and there is a weakness in the scapula stabilisers, and tightness in the Pec and Lat muscles. This poor scapula position decreases the amount of space between the acromion and humerus, leaving less room for the rotator cuff tendons to glide through. Blah, blah, blah..... I know you guys just want to feel better. Balancing the structure often leads to improved movement and reduced muscle tension/discomfort/pain and then we get to soft tissue work as the 🍒 on top

Massage therapy has many clinically-proven therapeutic and rehabilitative benefits to the body’s musculoskeletal, lymphatic and circulatory system. Some deep forms of massage release fibrous bands that form between tissues and organs.
Light and superficial forms of massage can interrupt pain perception experienced in chronic pain.
Massage can aid the circulatory system by facilitating oxygen and nutrients to tissues and vital organs. This form of therapy is also thought to stimulate the lymph system into releasing toxins. Some believe massage can release endorphins, which aid the body’s natural pain killers.

Trouble going overhead? Arm numbness? Let’s check your ribs 👀 “Symptoms of a first rib fixation range from head, neck, jaw and shoulder pain, to breathing difficulties and arm numbness. The first rib is a relatively unstable structure that acts as the attachment site for several muscles including the scalenes. In the upper cross forward head carriage, the scalenes can often become hypertonic and exert an upward pull on the rib. In chronic cases, the first rib can become so “jacked up” that it is painfully frozen into inaction. Is it just me or are we all extremely exhausted right now? It certainly feels that way for me. And it’s not the type of exhaustion where the remedy is more rest or more down time. We are burnt out.⁣

Burnout happens when we’re exposed to constant sources & states of repeated stress. But it’s not simply the exposure to stress that causes burnout -- it is chronic exposure to stress without a break. ⁣

Burnout itself can be exhausting and overwhelming. Pandemic burnout seems to be its own specific brand of exhausting, annoying, isolating, and lonely. It especially becomes exhausting when it feels like our only choice is to hang in there. We sit with the paradox of wanting more choice and control while feeling too burnt out to make decisions. ⁣

In a different circumstance, there might be more buffers to this. There are things that, in most scenarios, help us. Feeling connected socially, having a circle to rely on, and having more control or certainty over our situation help us to feel well. ⁣

What happens, though, when you are tired of connecting & socializing virtually? What do you say when you’re tired of saying “I miss you!”? What do you say when there’s nothing new to report? What do you say when you cannot talk about what you’re experiencing? What do you do when there is no certainty or control within sight? ⁣

If you’re feeling completely exhausted and burnt out right now, you are not alone. You are so not alone. Many of us are just trying to make it through right now. It makes sense that our friendships and closest relationships are starting to fall on the list of important things to nurture right now. ⁣

Some of us are done with texting, done with surface level check-ins, and done performing a positivity that we aren’t actually feeling. Some of us are needing more real life connection and cannot get it. Some of us are digging in and clinging on to people in a way we aren’t normally used to. Some of us are shutting the world out completely. Some replies are lengthy and some are just brief. It’s all normal. None of it is wrong. It all makes sense. ⁣

These are all normal & regular reactions to our collective abnormal
