Surgery Update

Baby I'm Back

While my days have lately been centered around surgery and recovery, I am positive I won’t be able to tell the story and focus on giving the best possible treatment.

I will give you the "skinny" now so you will have my full focus when you come in. I had an amazing anterior total hip replacement on my right side (the opposite side of my Achilles tendon repair from two years ago).

My hip replacement was performed by Dr. William Marshall from Jordan Young. I am now working with my genius physical therapist, Aki, from Zen Athletics. I took the heavy medications for one week and I should be finished the anti-inflammatory and aspirin this week. All my medications were every 6 hours but Aliyah split them up and came up with an every three hour schedule so I had zero pain. I had a bed set up downstairs, I lasted on that just one night, I was up the stairs by day 2. Truthfully, the most difficult part of the whole process was just trying to to and from bathroom and to resist the urge to bend over to pick things up !

It has been good, I’ve been able to get back to gardening over the last two weeks. My snapdragons and wisteria look beautiful. I’ve also planted lettuce, onions, carrots, basil, zinnias and marigolds and the most magnificent Mexican sunflower. I even successfully hardened off three varieties of tomatoes, chamomile and cucumbers that I started from seed!

My kids have been home and taking wonderful care of me.
