Today marks 30 years since I took a leap of faith and opened the doors to my own salon. When I look back, I don't just see a business I see a lifetime of memories, relationships, and God's faithfulness woven through every season.
For 30 years, I've stood behind that chair and been invited into people's lives. I've celebrated weddings, new babies, graduations, and new beginnings. I've listened through heartbreaks, losses, disappointments, and difficult seasons. I've laughed until tears rolled down my face and cried alongside people I care deeply about. What began as clients quickly became friends, and many became family.
There have been days when the salon was full of conversation and laughter, and days that felt heavy. Through every season, God has been faithful. He has provided, sustained, and blessed me far beyond anything I could have imagined when I first unlocked that door 30 years ago.
One of the sweetest blessings is that I now get to watch another generation become part of this story. I get to spend my days with Miss Aurora, our little beauty shop baby. She loves the clients, and they absolutely adore her. There is something so precious about watching her give high fives, wave goodbye to everyone as they leave, and light up the room with her smile.
What has surprised me most is seeing the joy she brings to others. Sometimes a client who hasn't held a baby in 50 years gets the chance to spend a few minutes with her. For a brief moment, worries seem to fade, smiles appear, and hearts soften. Aurora may never remember those moments, but the people whose day she brightened certainly will. It's amazing how God can use something as simple as a baby's laugh or a tiny wave to remind us of the goodness still in the world.
The salon has never just been a place to get your hair done. It's been a place where lives intersect, stories are shared, friendships are formed, and memories are made. Now Aurora is becoming part of those memories too, and watching that unfold has been one of the greatest blessings of all.
To every person who has ever sat in my chair, supported Country Styles, prayed for me, encouraged me, or simply walked through the door thank you. You have been part of something much bigger than a business. You have been part of a family.
Thirty years later, my heart is full. God has been so good. Looking back, I realize that while I thought I was opening a salon, God was building a community. And what a gift it has been to share life, laughter, tears, and now even the joy of a little beauty shop baby with all of you.

Good morning! Due to icy conditions in the parking lot and porch area, the salon will open at noon today. If I see that the back entrance is safer, I will have the back door open for easier entry.
