Staci’s Fight
Congenital heart disease. Transplant journey. Real life. Real fight. Still here.
If you’re planning to walk with Team Staci’s Fight, I need to get everybody squared away.
EVERYONE who is walking has to be registered. If you’re coming, send me the names of everybody in your group and I can get everyone registered.
Also, I’m paying for everybody’s Team Staci’s Fight shirt, so I need a shirt size for every person coming too. Don’t make me guess your size because somebody’s gonna end up walking this thing in a crop top. 😂
So send me:
❤️ Name of each person coming
👕 Shirt size for each person
Once we get closer to the walk, I’ll post the meet-up location and time so everybody knows exactly where to be.
We’re showing up together, walking together, and representing Staci’s Fight together. ❤️🫀
“Quick disclaimer before anybody gets distracted by the AI doing dumb s**t: I do not smoke or v**e. I couldn’t remove that part from the edit, so ignore it. 😂 “
They told my parents I might not make it, might never have kids, and might never live a normal life. Heart failure was part of my life for years, but I kept building one anyway. Then came OU Health, then Barnes-Jewish, more procedures, more waiting, IV medicine, hospital rooms, and finally a heart transplant. And after all that? I’m still here. Still a mom. Still living. Still doing the things people weren’t sure I’d ever get to do. I’ve spent my whole life outliving predictions. I’m not stopping now.
Day 138 after transplant ❤️
I’ve watched Staci go through about every version of fighting there is. I watched her act like nothing was wrong and keep pushing through everything. She would say she was fine, keep doing what needed done, and try to live normal even when everybody around her could clearly tell she was struggling.
Then I watched that turn into actually fighting for her life. And I mean fighting through everyday things. Cooking. Walking to another room. Playing with the kids. Taking a shower.
Just getting through the day. There were times she was giving 1,000% just to do things most people never even think twice about.
Now, 138 days after transplant, I get to watch a completely different version of her. She’s w**d eating. Training horses. Learning how to drive a tractor. Cooking her ass off. Cleaning her ass off. Playing with the kids. Wanting learn how to ride a motorcycle. Finding random s**t she wants to try just because now she actually feels good enough to do it.
That’s probably one of the biggest things I’ve noticed through all of this. Before transplant, so much of her life was about pushing through and pretending she was okay.
Now she gets to actually enjoy it. There’s a huge difference between surviving your life and loving your life. And watching Staci finally get to love hers has been one of the best parts of this whole damn journey.
Staci’s Fight was never just about getting a new heart. It was about getting her life back. ❤️
📢 PODCAST UPDATE 📢
We’re making a little change to the Staci’s Fight podcast!
New episodes will now drop on WEDNESDAYS instead of Sundays. ❤️🎙️
Same real conversations.
Same transplant journey.
Same laughs, hard moments, and probably Dakota saying something he shouldn’t. 🤣
Just a new day.
So starting now, Wednesdays are podcast days! Make sure you’re following so you don’t miss the next episode. ❤️
Usually I can let smart remarks roll right off me. Yesterday was not one of those days. 🤣 The babies were absolutely losing their minds in Walmart, I was already on my LAST nerve, and this lady made some comment like:
“That’s funny, people are still afraid of Covid.” And I lost it. I looked at her and said, “I had a heart transplant. You have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Was it my finest moment? Probably not. 😂 Do I regret standing up for myself? Not really. After transplant, being careful about germs isn’t me “being scared.” My immune system is intentionally suppressed so my body doesn’t attack my new heart. So if you see somebody wearing a mask, sanitizing everything, avoiding crowds, or being extra careful, maybe just mind your business. You have absolutely no idea what somebody has survived just to be standing in Walmart with two screaming babies trying to get through the day. 🤣❤️
Some days it still doesn’t feel real.
A few months ago, our whole world revolved around hospital rooms, phone calls, medications, numbers, and waiting for the next update.
Now we’re back to normal life. Kids being loud, schedules being crazy, chores piling up, and all the little things we used to take for granted.
And honestly, that “boring” everyday life means more to us now than it ever did before. ❤️
We’ll never stop being thankful for the second chance Staci was given.
