A Cow Named Summer and friends

RIP Summer. You were the best mama to your 3 babies. You were a great friend to little Rosie. I hope you and Rosie are roaming in lush green pastures and have all the fresh grass you want. You'll be missed.

Sad day..... We had to say goodbye to Summer's best friend of 8 years today. Our sweet little Rosie. She got out of her pasture the other night or early yesterday morning and fell down a bank, A passerby saw her on the side of the road in a ditch and alerted the farmer where we board her. He called my dad and the 3 of them got her back to the barnyard/pasture and she seemed dazed but otherwise fine. We checked on her a couple times yesterday and she seemed fine was still on her feet etc. Got a call today she was back out if the fence standing by a fence post and didn't look good. We went down ( 1 mile away) and she was down laying on her side all stretched out, we thought she was dead already. She wasn't but was in the direct sun. We called the vet and went and got hugs of water and an umbrella . we poured water in her and she instantly sat up. She stayed in an upright position the entire time. The vet arrived and assessed her and said all her membrane tissue was white indicating she was bleeding somewhere. She did a re**al because we told her she kept trying to p**p., her stool was very hard and she said that was another sign.
We made the decision to euthanize. We sat with her. The farmer out her in the skidsteer bucket and brought her up on the hill where a few other friends were buried and some friends came with an excavator and dug a hole and she's buried on the hill.
RIP OYR SWEET ROSIE

Rosie had a pedicure ..... The vet said she's seen worse feet but I thought they were horrible! She had it done under sedation. It took a bit to get her to lay down but all went good. The vet couldn't get a vein at first for the reversal but eventually did. Wish I'd taken pics while she was under sedation cuz her teeth were sticking out and it was so cute
