🌿Is it normal to break out after a facial?

While it’s not going to happen to everyone, “purging” is common.

Purging can happen when new products especially actives that are meant to speed up cellular turnover rate, are being used, or skin is well stimulated- much of what’s below the surface is being encouraged to come up and out.

This is why exfoliating and extractions are essential, you don’t want dirt and debris getting trapped below the surface of the skin as this can lead to clogged pores and increased risk of breakouts.

Purging may last up to a few weeks and may appear as “whiteheads”, be sure to avoid “popping” pimples and excessive touching of the face as this can attract bacteria causing more inflammation or breakouts.
Icing the skin will help keep inflammation and redness away.

When this happens, be sure to keep up with your daily regimen, change your pillowcase often and clean cellphone and makeup brushes daily, avoid harsh products, fragranced products, over exfoliation and sun exposure.

Most importantly, be gentle with your skin.☀️
