Consistency with healthy hair practices is key when it comes to length retention. Outside of genetics and nutrition, 5 of Thrive Hair Bar's biggest recommendations for length retention are
1. Shampoo and condition regularly (usually weekly)
2. Maintain a consistent trim schedule (quarterly is a popular frequency)
3. Always use a quality leave-in conditioner after every shampoo and condition session
4. Always use a quality heat protectant before blowdrying your hair, even if you're just stretching it for braids or twists
5. Protect your hair when laying down and at night with a satin or silk head scarf, bonnet, and or pillow case (make sure you wash these items regularly too!)

We can't deny it, a is very popular in the winter in DC because there isn't as much humidity in the air, many outdoor pools are closed so people aren't swimming frequently, and because it isn't hot, people are not sweating as much, which means your pressed hair can stay dry and can last longer than in the summer.
