Capsular contracture is one of the more common complications after breast augmentation, but a lot of women who come to us with it don’t actually realize that’s what’s going on.

They just know something doesn’t feel quite right. Maybe there’s some discomfort, one breast feels firmer, or they simply don’t like the way their implants look or feel anymore.

During surgery, we remove the old implant and the capsule of scar tissue around it, then replace the implant and essentially give the breast a fresh start. If you’ve noticed a change in the way your implants look or feel, it’s worth having them checked. 💞

I’ve seen a lot of old breast implants, but I definitely wasn’t expecting to find THIS. Pulled this one from the archives because it’s still one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen… looks like milk, texture of milk…

The capsule that your body forms around an old breast implant (or any foreign body) can become calcified over time. If you leave it in there long enough, the calcium can leech into the implant, discoloring the saline inside. So, this is essentially calcified salt water, or…. Milk!

The emotional roller coaster after plastic surgery that we don’t talk about enough.

You’re not just physically healing after surgery, there’s an emotional side to recovery too, and it can catch people completely off guard. Somewhere between those first few days and the first few weeks, you’re swollen, uncomfortable, not sleeping normally, relying on other people and looking in the mirror at something that is nowhere near your final result yet, so it’s actually really common to have that moment of “wait… what did I do?”
