Today, my friend and client just wanted a slight shift in level and to warm her natural tone up a bit. We took her from a level 3 to a 5 and added a little warmth to it for a deep soothing chocolate. Perfect for fall!

Fall might not be in the air yet here in east NC but it's definitely in the hair! Im loving the warm dimension here 😍

Im home with a sick little boy so I thought today would be a good time to go over service costs since i wont be getting any good hair pics!

I know prices are soaring everywhere and I would love to be able to give you the best service at the lowest price but unfortunately, unless I win the lottery and this becomes my hobby and not my livelihood, I cant do that.

The picture above comes from another stylist and im using it as an example. The stylist posted that she often gets tagged in posts asking for someone who can do great hair and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. She always replies & thanks the person who tags her but sometimes in the consult, the potential client says they dont understand why a simple highlight costs so much.

So I'll help explain. Firstly, it's no longer a simple highlight. These days, people want blendy, they want a money piece, they want a smudged root, they want dimension, etc. Some stylists use permanent color for a root smudge and then when the client goes to a different stylist, its now a color correction bc we have to lift that band without damaging the hair bc no one wants to see red & we dont want your hair snapping off the next time you get highlights/decide on something totally different.

Secondly, the price of products is also very up there & not everything can be used a 2nd or 3rd time. A few of the items in this Pic are 1 times uses and others would be used maybe 5-6 times.

And let's not get started on taxes and tariffs, mmkay?

I shopped this entire order and it came up to $350 and it will last a couple of weeks, at most, and it's for 1 stylist. The salon i work in uses Aveda color and products and on average, our brand is about 30% more in price but we also are cruelty free, earth friendly and every product we use is over 90% naturally derived.

I just want all of my clients and friends to know that no one stays in this industry bc thats where the big bucks are. We stay in it bc we love doing hair! The majority of what you pay us goes to product costs, rent, utilities and Uncle Sam. I hope this helps a little bit!

My client usually either gets highlights, lowlights or a mix of the 2. Sometimes we do a full and sometimes we do a partial. She was beginning to feel too bright and she wanted to cover the greys but not have to come in every 4 weeks for a skunk stripe.

We chose a demi permanent. Demis fade slowly, give good grey coverage and still give great dimension when you have preexisting highlights and lowlights!

There have been a few changes to our online bookings system! One change is that we now require a 50% deposit for all services when you book online.

Let me explain why.

Last year, we kept meticulous notes on our appointment book as to when appts were being canceled, when clients were no call/no showing and when appts were being changed last minute. We noticed 2 things: it was mainly online appointments with new clients and/or it was on Saturdays.

We decided as a group at that it would be best to set up our online bookings site to require deposits as that's where most new clients book. This will protect our stylists' time and money and it will also w**d out bots. Yes, fake bookers are a thing in the salon world.

However, if you are an existing client and dont want to put down a deposit, you can call 252-974-2122 to book . As long as you have a good standing history with us and do not no call/no show or change your appointment last minute, you can bypass the deposit.

That brings me to the next change, I will no longer be booking appointments for you via text or social media messenger. I find that on my days off, it disrupts my day and im usually too busy when im at work to do it. So if you need to book with me, please either call or use our booking link:

I always knew I was gonna be a hairstylist. When I was little...probably about 6 or 7, my parents bought me this Dolly Parton Barbie doll. She went on my "do not touch" Barbie shelf. All my birthday and holiday collectable dolls went up there.

But I couldn't leave her alone. I got her down and I cut her hair into a bob and I used my mom's bronzing lotion to turn her blonde hair brownish. Then I cut her onesie into a crop top outfit.

I thought she looked amazing. My mom thought differently.

I was punished. Verily lol!

I don't regret doing what I did. I exercised my creativity. I do regret not keeping the doll though.

RIP Dolly. Thank you for playing such a big part in cultivating my talent. Thanks for letting ne practice on you...or your likeness, at least.
