“Colic” isn’t a diagnosis—it’s a symptom. If you’ve ever been told your baby “just has colic” and that they’ll grow out of it, I too have been there…

The ENTIRE reason I got into this work, was because my daughter Judy was the “colicky” baby. Most just said “she’ll grow out of it.” Meanwhile my mom heart was constantly ripped to shreds while her and I both cried. So I dug deep to get answers, and here’s what I learned.

Babies don’t cry for hours on end for no reason. Their bodies are trying to tell us something. Whether it’s from birth trauma, tension in their fascia, or digestive discomfort, there is always an underlying reason. Labeling it “colic” without looking deeper is like putting a bandaid on a broken bone.

Most babies I see with “colic” actually have fascial restrictions—tightness in their little bodies from a tough birth, tongue ties, or tension they’ve been holding onto since the womb. This tension can make it hard for them to settle, digest, and even latch properly. Imagine feeling stiff and uncomfortable 24/7, and the only way to express it is to cry. That’s what’s happening to so many babies, and it’s not something they just grow out of—it’s something they adapt to.

This is where Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) comes in. It’s a gentle, hands-on therapy that helps release these restrictions so babies can relax, digest, and sleep better. I’ve seen babies go from screaming for hours to finally being able to settle—sometimes after just one session. If you’ve been told to “wait it out” or that “all babies cry,” let me tell you: relief is possible. I also love that we work with other providers like your IBCLC so we can look at it from multiple angles. We deeply care about getting to the root cause.

Your baby deserves more than a label—they deserve comfort, connection, and ease in their little body. 💛 03/27/2025

Fall Harvest Time also reminds me of how important it is to slow down and take some time to store up my own energy during Autumn.

With harvesting honey, picking the last veggies from the garden, and canning salmon it’s very evident winter is around the corner. What a beautiful season in Alaska.

Happy Belated Equinox Everyone❣️

Last Friday I got the news, I was in shock. My childhood friend, close as a brother. I am so blessed to have had you in my life Chris Macy, and so so devastated that you’re gone. I love you and I am grateful that I got to spend a little time with you and your lovely family in June. I went for a hike the next day and saw you everywhere in the shape of heart rocks. I must have seen 30.

💥This is why whiplash takes time to heal and recover.

The complexity and layering of these muscles allow for a wide range of motions and support for the head and neck.

Here’s a breakdown of the primary muscles found in the posterior aspect of the neck:

🪷Trapezius: This large, superficial muscle extends over the neck, shoulders, and back. It’s responsible for moving the scapula and supporting the arm.

🪷Splenius Capitis: Located beneath the trapezius, this muscle helps in rotating the head, bending it to the side, and extending the neck.

🪷 Splenius Cervicis: Similar to the splenius capitis, this muscle aids in neck rotation, lateral flexion, and extension.

🪷 Levator Scapulae: This muscle elevates the scapula and assists in bending the neck to the side.

🪷 Semispinalis Capitis: Part of the deeper layer of muscles, it extends the head and helps in its rotation.

🪷 Semispinalis Cervicis: This muscle extends and rotates the cervical spine.

🪷 Suboccipital muscles: This group includes four small muscles - the Re**us Capitis Posterior Major, Re**us Capitis Posterior Minor, Obliquus Capitis Superior, and Obliquus Capitis Inferior. These muscles are vital for head rotation and extension.

🪷 Erector Spinae Group: While primarily located in the back, this muscle group extends into the neck region. It includes the Iliocostalis, Longissimus, and Spinalis muscles, which aid in extending and rotating the neck.

🪷 Multifidus: This muscle is deep in the spine and works to stabilize the joints and maintain posture.

“Offer yourself the same kind of awe and wonder you’d offer a force of nature. Like a vast wild night sky. A space that reflects an incredible deep vibrational sense. One breath at a time. Resting in the ground of your belonging.”
