Welcome to the Fat & Flower ecosystem! We make small-batch candles slowly infused with things from the natural world: tree resins, woods, herbs, and botanicals.

Not fragrance oils trying to smell like nature — but actual pieces of it.

HOUSE NOTES #002: Creature Care 🌾

I know what it’s like to keep digging.

To keep pushing.

To keep trying to become better, healthier, more organized, more productive.

Until there’s nothing left but roots and bones.

So I made myself a reminder.

Not to do more.

Not to optimize.

Not to improve.

But to remember that I’m alive.

Living.

Breathing.

Working.

Loving.

Caring.

Carrying more than I sometimes realize.

And often, exhausted.

I deserve tending.

So do you.

Feed her.

Warm her.

Moisturize her.

Let her sleep.

Give her broth.

Give her minerals.

Give her beauty.

Open a window.

Light a candle.

Not because she’ll become more productive tomorrow.

Because she’s a creature.

And creatures need tending.

A body is not a machine.

Treat it accordingly.

Welcome to Sunday Samples Club #004.

Every Sunday, I share a glimpse of what’s forming at Fat & Flower.

Sometimes it’s a scent.

Sometimes it’s an idea.

Sometimes it’s a small piece of a season that’s still taking shape.

This week’s sample is Oat Marrow, an upcoming scent from my June 15 release.

Early, unfinished, and available in limited quantities.

A glimpse of what’s forming. 🌾

Message me if you’d like to join this week’s sample pour.

p.s. this week’s sample also includes a packet of Marrow Water Flowerade—a nourishing summer infusion inspired by Oat Marrow. 🌾💦🦋

Why candles?

It’s a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately actually.

The answer has less to do with scent and wax and more to do with the kind of life I’m trying to build.

I think a lot of people are trying to create meaningful lives under difficult conditions right now.

Balancing work, family, finances, caregiving, uncertainty, and the everyday realities of modern life.

That’s part of why I care so much about atmosphere, seasonal rituals, ordinary abundance, and creating a home that feels supportive rather than demanding.

I don’t believe candles solve those problems tho.

But I do believe small acts of care matter.

I believe atmosphere affects how we experience our lives.

I believe ordinary moments deserve beauty.

And I believe a meaningful life isn’t reserved for people with unlimited time, money, or resources.

Fat & Flower exists somewhere between reality and possibility.

Not to ignore what’s hard.

But to ask:

Given the world as it is, how do we continue making a life we’d actually like to live?

That’s why I make candles.

Maybe this summer looks different.

Smaller radius.
More local evenings.
Less spending.
More noticing.

I know a lot of us are feeling the weight of rising costs right now. Gas, groceries, activities, all of it.
But I keep thinking about the summers I remember most and none of them were extravagant.

They were sprinklers.
Popsicles.
Library books.
Late sunsets.
Cards at the table.
Smoke in our clothes after bonfires.
Candles lit before dark.

So this summer I’m leaning into staying close on purpose.
Building atmosphere at home.
Letting ordinary life feel abundant again.

A FAT Summer.

Full in all the ways that actually matter.

Blue Moon Samples 🌕

Lately I’ve been working on a candle inspired by nourishment, restoration, softness, and the quiet strength that comes from tending yourself well.

Tonight’s Sunday Samples are a small glimpse of that world.

DM “BLUE MOON” if you’d like one.

I keep thinking about how easy it is to feel like summer has to be expensive to be meaningful.

Trips.
Tickets.
Constant outings.
Buying more things just to “make memories.”

But some of the most memorable summers are built from very ordinary things:

open windows
cold fruit in the kitchen
library books
lake water
movies outside
candles lit before dark
smoke in our clothes after bonfires

I think there’s a version of abundance that exists outside performance.

A slower, softer, more local kind.

So this summer I’m reclaiming small radius living.
Trying to live inside summer instead of performing it.

A FAT Summer 🌞

Lately I’ve been learning that rest can’t only happen once everything is finished.

Not after the house is perfect.
Not after every message is answered.
Not after every order is poured.
Not after everyone else is taken care of.

The last few weeks have been full in every possible way. End of the school year, candle work, motherhood, sickness, my cycle, the season shifting here in Alaska.

I kept feeling my body asking me to slow down before my mind wanted to listen.

So this summer I’m trying something different.

More laying down in the middle of the day.
More listening.
More softness before burnout instead of after.

Rest is not a reward.
It’s part of staying alive inside your own life.
