Her skin brought her to see us, but together, we uncovered much more than she expected. 📦
Over the years, she had tried so much: prescription and over-the-counter skincare, antivirals, antibiotics, antiparasitics, antifungals, and even Accutane. Yet she was still struggling with her skin. 🧩
There was much more to her story. 15 years of hormonal contraceptives. Very heavy periods. Short menstrual cycles. Fatigue and other symptoms that deserved attention, too.⏳
So we dug deeper. 🧐
We reviewed her health history and used individualized functional testing—including stool, urine, blood, and breath testing—to investigate 🔬🕵🏻♀️ potential internal contributors. Those findings helped guide her care. 📑
Our customized home skincare routine remained an essential part of her plan. We cared for her skin while addressing the broader findings, following her progress and making adjustments along the way. 💫
When we look at these photos, we see why taking the time to listen, ask the right questions, and understand the whole person matters so much. 🤗
This is the heart of our functional dermatology approach. 💚 Your skin may bring you through our door, but we also want to understand how you’re feeling and what you’ve been struggling with. 🔑
You deserve to feel heard. 🫶🏼
There is something sacred about slowing down and looking within. 🌿Listening to your body, honoring your feelings, and meeting yourself with compassion can be a beautiful act of self-love. 🎟️
You deserve that kindness, too. ❤️🩹

Acne + rosacea-prone skin can be incredibly frustrating to treat — because more is not always better.
These cases often have multiple layers happening at once, including:
🔥 Internal inflammation
🥗 Nutrient deficiencies
🦠 Gut-related imbalances
🚦 Hormonal sensitivity
🚩 A weakened or depleted skin barrier
♟️ Stress + nervous system dysregulation
👩🏻🔬 Individual lifestyle and environmental triggers
And when the skin is already inflamed and reactive?
🚫 More acids
🚫 More exfoliation
🚫 More “acne-fighting” products
🚫 More treatments
🚫 More supplements
…can sometimes make everything even angrier. 😅
As a Functional Dermatology Specialist serving Greater Boston, I often see acne and reactive skin connected to much more than what is happening on the surface.
This transformation happened over 7 months with a much more individualized approach.
We focused on:
🌿 Supporting and rebuilding the skin barrier
🌿 Reducing unnecessary irritation
🌿 Calming inflammation
🌿 Addressing gut-related contributors
🌿 Replenishing nutrient deficiencies where appropriate
🌿 Supporting hormonal sensitivity and cycle-related patterns
🌿 And very importantly… supporting the nervous system
That last piece was huge here. 🤍 Because healing isn’t always about doing more.
Sometimes it’s about giving the body enough support to stop constantly pushing, fighting, fixing, and reacting.
She trusted. 🪷
She let go. ✌🏼
She stayed open. 🫶🏼
And that mattered. 🌻
We are still working to maintain this balance and support the underlying contributors—this isn’t the end of her journey. But the progress so far has been amazing to see. 💫
Her skin doesn’t just look clearer. It looks healthier. 😍
✨ More natural color has returned
✨ The skin looks calmer
✨ The barrier appears stronger
✨ Overall reactivity has improved
✨ Her complexion looks more resilient and balanced
This is the kind of progress we love to see. 👁️
Because sometimes one of the most important parts of the treatment plan is knowing what NOT to add. 😉

Over 25 years of persistent acne. Fungal folliculitis. Inflammation. Congestion. Acne scarring.
This client had struggled with her skin for more than two decades and had tried many different approaches over the years.
So we did not treat this as simply a topical acne problem.
We took an internal + external functional dermatology approach.
🧬Internally, we used targeted functional testing, including genetic testing, along with her history, nutrition, lifestyle, symptoms, and overall health patterns to better understand the bigger picture behind her persistent skin concerns.🌱
🧴Externally, we worked on controlling active acne and fungal folliculitis, reducing inflammation and congestion, supporting the skin barrier, and eventually addressing the texture and scarring left behind after years of chronic breakouts. 💆🏻♀️
Her skin was not the whole story.
It was one visible expression of a much bigger picture. 🤍
That is what I want people to understand about functional dermatology.
It is not about blaming every breakout on the gut, hormones, food, or one single “root cause.”
It is about looking at the person attached to the skin, identifying patterns, asking better questions, and creating a more individualized plan when the history tells us there may be more going on.
Today, her skin is calmer, clearer, and more consistently stable, while we continue working on residual acne scarring and long-term skin health.

We test, we don’t guess.🔬
This client had been on the pill for years. Spironolactone for years.
And yet, her skin was still trying to communicate. 🆘
Acne is not one-size-fits-all — and long-term suppression is not the same as resolution. 😮
Through root-cause analysis, customized skincare, and targeted in-clinic treatments, we worked to understand the deeper patterns contributing to her breakouts instead of simply chasing symptoms on the surface.
Functional dermatology means looking at the whole picture:
✅hormones,
✅digestion,
✅inflammation,
✅nutrient status,
✅stress response,
✅skin barrier function,
✅and the story the skin is trying to tell.
Because clearer, calmer skin does not come from guessing. ✨
It comes from strategy. Consistency.
And supporting the body beneath the breakout. 🙌🏻
Results vary, but this is the power of testing, personalizing, and treating the skin as part of the whole person.
Are you ready to stop guessing and start understanding what your skin is trying to tell you?

🌞June is Acne Awareness Month, and this transformation feels especially close to my heart 🫀
When this beautiful client first came to see me, she was looking for help with acne, but her story was never simply about her skin.
She had been carrying a complex history of health challenges since she was just 10 years old. As we worked together, it became clear that her recurrent cystic acne was not an isolated issue, but rather one expression of deeper internal imbalances that had been affecting her for years.
Before finding this path, she had already been through so much — Accutane, spironolactone, birth control pills, antibiotics, and more — and yet the healing she had hoped for never fully came.
What made the difference was not another quick fix, but a more thoughtful and compassionate approach.
Together, we began looking beneath the surface — addressing the root causes that were indirectly contributing to her acne, creating a customized skincare routine for her unique skin, and incorporating in-clinic treatments to gently work through years of congestion and restore balance.
Watching her skin improve has been incredibly meaningful, but what touches me most is always something deeper than the visible result. It is witnessing the soft return of confidence. The relief. The sense of finally feeling seen, understood, and supported in a way that honors the whole person.💖
She is a beautiful human being, inside and out, and it has been such a privilege to walk alongside her in this journey.
Acne can carry so much more than what others see on the surface. It can hold years of frustration, vulnerability, and quiet emotional weight.
That is why true healing is never just about clearer skin. It is about restoration. It is about care that is personal, intentional, and deeply attuned. And sometimes, it is about helping someone find their way back to themselves. 💜🪷

🤩Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) — Clear, refined skin✨
These small, benign growths are very common, especially in melanin-rich skin, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with them if they bother you.
This transformation was achieved with a gentle, controlled approach focused on:
✔️ precision removal
✔️ minimizing inflammation
✔️ protecting surrounding skin
✔️ supporting proper healing to reduce risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation
After just 2 treatments, you can already see a smoother, more even skin texture 😍
Customized treatment.
No unnecessary damage.
Just intentional, corrective care.
Healing matters just as much as the treatment itself — which is why post-care and skin support are always part of the process.
📍
If you’ve been told “nothing can be done” or you’re afraid of scarring or dark marks after removal… there is a better way when it’s done correctly.

🌹 To the women I have the honor to care for — and to the women still finding their way back to themselves.
Many of us were taught to override the body.
Push through.
Ignore the signals.
But the feminine was never meant to be silenced.
The female body is cyclical.
Intuitive.
Deeply intelligent.
Skin speaks.
Hormones speak.
The nervous system speaks.
When women begin listening again, something sacred returns.
A return to the divine feminine.
A return to wisdom.
A return to the body as guide.
Today I honor the strength, intuition, and resilience of women everywhere.
And to the women who trust me with their care — it is an honor to walk alongside you.
Women deserve care that listens.
The body was never meant to be silenced.
❤️🌹

Treating acne with skincare alone for too long?
If you’ve rotated products, tried prescriptions, and still struggle with adult acne, this may not be a surface issue.
In this case, she came in with underlying drivers including:
• Celiac disease with chronic immune activation
• SIBO increasing inflammatory burden
• Prior mold exposure contributing to systemic inflammation
When gut inflammation persists, cytokine signaling increases, nutrient absorption declines, and skin healing slows. Topicals alone cannot correct systemic inflammation.
A root-cause approach addresses the internal terrain. In this case, over 8 months, by focusing on gut repair, microbial balance, inflammatory regulation, and detoxification support, inflammatory acne improved significantly.
If you’re experiencing persistent acne, hormonal acne, rosacea, or breakouts alongside digestive symptoms, the gut–skin connection deserves evaluation.
