Our small family business was born from the need to find a way to help improve the skin health of our two youngest children. They both navigate life with many food allergies, asthma, and severe eczema. We had spent years trying all the hypoallergenic over-the-counter moisturizers with little to no improvement. With a combined 20-year background in healthcare and cosmetology, this Mama got to work! What is tallow? Tallow is put simply rendered animal fat, most commonly from beef. It contains all the same vitamins, minerals and healthy fats that our skin has, making it the most biologically compatible with us. It truly is a super skin food! I source my suet from a local butcher and process it to produce my own tallow for all the skincare products I make, for the highest quality possible. We found that the beef tallow skincare products I was making were gentle, soothing, and a game changer when added to their skincare routine. They do not fix the eczema, but where the MOST helpful and moisturizing for them. We started selling our skincare 3 years ago to help others with super sensitive skin, and to help bring back the use of tallow! We began selling at 1 market per week, and now you can find us at 33 stores throughout the states. Our logo is a heritage breed turkey, which I get questions about often! It simply stands for traditional ways and ingredients. Which is fitting since tallow has been used since ancient times but was left behind during the industrial revolution when goods became mass produced for as cheap as possible and ingredient quality has continually become poorer ever since. It truly is a family business! Each jar of lotion is hand piped, each soap hand cut, and all formulated simply and with purpose. All the kids help in various ways including labeling, marketing, sorting, and helping at events and farmers markets throughout the year. The best part is hearing from a customer that their skin or their child's skin has improved! It's just close to my heart, because I have been THAT parent before. Searching and trying anything to help make their baby's skin a "little happier". We also produce small amounts of organically grown garlic, lamb and poultry meat on our tiny farm.

This little lady is one of the very reasons Heritage Homestead Co. was created in the first place. Our familyās journey with sensitive skin, allergies, and finding simpler products is what started this little businessāand now, years later, sheās helping out in her own special way.
Her newest job? Closing the farm stand each night!

šæ A little note about your whipped tallow body butter this time of yearā¦
If youāve noticed your body butter looking or feeling a little different lately, thereās a perfectly natural reason for it!
This time of year, our temperatures can swing quite a bit ā cool nights followed by warm days. Since tallow is a natural fat, those temperature changes can affect its texture. Your whipped body butter may become a little firmer, softer, grainier, or lose some of that fluffy whipped texture.
Nothing is wrong with your body butter! š¤
I donāt use chemical emulsifiers or stabilizers to force our tallow to stay perfectly creamy and uniform. I actually want our products to be as simple and natural as possible.
So when the texture changes with the seasons, thatās simply a natural product doing what natural products do. šæ
If your body butter gets a little firm, just let it warm up on your skin and it will soften as you massage it in. And if it becomes softer during a warm spell, itās still perfectly good to use.
This is one of the little things that comes with making products the old-fashioned way ā using real ingredients means they can naturally change a bit with the seasons.

The basics matter. š
When it comes to healthy skin and scalp, I believe the most important place to start is with two simple things: cleansing and moisturizing.
These are the basic building blocks of a healthy skin and scalp routine. When those fundamentals are right, everything else has a better foundation to build on.
Thatās why you wonāt find 35 different products in my line for every specific concern under the sun. Iām not interested in creating products just to fill a shelf.
I specialize in the essentials ā effective cleansing and nourishing moisture ā because I believe healthy skin and scalp start with getting the basics right.
Simple. Intentional. Foundational.

Iām starting some test batches of a new tallow soap bar made WITHOUT coconut oil.
Allergies and sensitivities have always been incredibly important to us. Theyāre actually a big part of why this company began in the first place. When youāre making products for sensitive skin, you start looking at every single ingredient a little differently.
And honestlyā¦ formulating new products makes my heart happy. š„° Thereās something so exciting about taking a simple idea, working through the ingredients, making a batch, testing it, tweaking it, and hopefully ending up with something that makes someoneās skincare routine a little easier.
This one is still in the testing stage, so Iām not ready to promise a finished product just yet ā but Iām really excited about where itās going.
