🌿 REFILLERY REAL TALK: LET’S TALK MONEY.

Everything is expensive right now.

People are making more money than they ever have, yet so many families feel like their paycheck stretches less and less every month.

Groceries. Gas. Utilities. Toiletries. Cleaning supplies.

It all adds up.

According to consumer-spending data tracked by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average American household spends roughly $130–$160 per month on household cleaning supplies and personal-care/toiletry products.

And when everyone is looking for places to cut expenses, we’ve been thinking a lot about something:

Being poor is expensive.

Buying in bulk saves money — if you have enough money to buy in bulk.

Higher-quality products can last longer — if you can afford the higher upfront cost.

Sustainable choices can reduce waste — but that doesn’t help everyday families if sustainability is priced like a luxury.

At Still Water Herbal Country Family Designs, we don’t believe your budget should determine whether you have access to clean, quality products or whether you can make more sustainable choices for your home.

So let’s have some refillery real talk.

♻️ IS REFILLING ALWAYS CHEAPER?

Nope.

And we’re not going to tell you it is.

Before Still Water, I wasn’t buying expensive hand soap. I bought Softsoap.

So when I started comparing prices, I looked up the soap I actually used to buy.

About 22¢ per ounce.

Our regular refillery hand soap costs more than that.

There. I said it. 😂

But then I realized something:

That’s not really an apples-to-apples comparison.

So we started comparing similar products to similar products.

Online: $1.16/oz
Average refillery price:50¢/oz

🌿 Comparable Castile soap:
Online: 53¢/oz
average refillery: 60¢/oz

✨ Comparable rinse aid:
Online: 58¢/oz
Average refillery: 20¢/oz

*keep in mind refillery products are concentrated so you use less to do the same job*

Sometimes we’re considerably cheaper.

Sometimes we’re a few cents more.

And we’re okay telling you both.

Because our goal isn’t to convince you something is cheaper when it isn’t.

It’s to give our community access to products that allow you to reuse containers you already own, buy the amount you actually need, reduce unnecessary waste and know more about what you’re bringing into your home.

But we kept coming back to one question:

How do we make refilling affordable enough that more families can actually DO it?

That’s where this came from.

THE STILL WATER $40 FILL

Here’s what $40 gets you:

♻️ Up to 128 ounces — ONE FULL GALLON — of mix-and-match products from our refillery

PLUS

🧼 1 Shampoo Bar

🧼 1 Conditioner Bar

Our shampoo + conditioner bar set normally retails for:

$18.

So now let’s do the math.

$40 − $18 = $22

That leaves $22 of the package price attributable to as much as 128 ounces of refill products.

$22 ÷ 128 = 17.2¢ per ounce.

🤯 ABOUT 17¢ AN OUNCE.

Remember that Softsoap I told you I used to buy because it was inexpensive?

22¢ an ounce.

With the $40 Fill and the full 128-ounce allowance, the effective refill cost after accounting for the regular retail value of the included bars is about:

17¢ an ounce.

We beat it.

And THAT was the goal.

Not to convince a family watching every dollar that spending more is somehow saving money.

Not to pretend 50¢ is cheaper than 22¢.

Not to make clean or sustainable products something only certain budgets can afford.

We wanted to find a way to make the cleaner, refillable option genuinely affordable.

And we wanted the program to work with real life, too.

Get 10 ounces.

Need dish soap and hand soap next week?

Come back.

Hear we’re putting a new scent on the refillery next Thursday and want to save some ounces to try it?

Come in as many times as you’d like during that month. Mix and match your eligible refillery products however you want until you’ve reached your 128-ounce allowance.
