This is the foundation of what I mean when I say selfishness is not selfish.

I say this not to encourage you to take more. This is not about getting more at the expense of others.

This is about taking care of yourself, so your cup is always full, so you can give from a place of abundance rather than sacrifice.

When we self sacrifice it may seem selfless, but it’s really the root of selfishness. We do this to belong, to matter, to get love and acceptance…

But what we get is none of the above. Instead we get frustration and resentment because we never seem to get back the things we really desire. So we give more and get less, and the cycle deepens and we’re left trying to figure out why our endless giving isn’t being seen or valued or rewarded.

But when we give ourselves the honor and dignity of fulfilling our own basic needs first…we no longer need or expect others to somehow guess what we desire to receive from them.

Instead, we release them. We release the expectations we hold over others to fill our needs because we are already full.

We become free and they become free.

We grant them the permission to also care for themselves, releasing our duty to care for them, unless we simply desire to serve out of love and overflow.

Our energy becomes higher, our frequency more powerful and suddenly those we engage with receive a lift simply from being in our presence.

And those who have the privilege to spend time with us observe our self care and begin to calibrate to our level of self care.

In this cycle we slowly raise the vibration of the whole world.

And this is why your wellness matters to me. Why you matter to me. Why you matter to the world.

Your energy affects my energy through the ripples we emit and the lives we touch between us.
