Originally from Medellín, Colombia, Dr. Maria Hicks is a board-certified dermatologist and CILAD-certified Trichologist with over 23 years of experience. After practicing in South America, she completed a research fellowship at Wake Forest University and a second residency at Geisinger Medical Center. Now based in Tampa, she provides bilingual care in English and Spanish, focusing on a patient-centered approach that connects physical wellness with emotional health.

Dr. Hicks offers a unique dual expertise in medical dermatology and advanced trichology, specializing in the diagnosis and management of complex hair loss and scalp disorders. Her practice addresses everything from androgenetic alopecia to inflammatory scarring conditions like lichen planopilaris and CCCA. By integrating these fields, she provides holistic, long-term restoration strategies and personalized treatments that go beyond standard dermatological care.
She is currently seeing patients at Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health with locations in Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills.

⚕️ We got a large group of amazing female physicians together and learned self-defense for a cause! Melissa, our fearless leader and the owner of Traditional Taekwondo Tampa, was kind enough to donate her time to better the community and allow us to better ours. All of the money raised today is going to The Spring of Tampa Bay, benefiting victims of domestic violence.

I am passionate about giving women the tools they need to protect themselves and believe that everyone should have access to basic self-defense knowledge.
