The birth of Melanin Jewel:
The year 2020 was a year full of challenges and triumphs. We went through a pandemic, I had a beautiful baby girl and found a tumor on my brain. My mind went racing thinking about every scenario on what could have caused it. Was it inherited? Was it what I consumed? Was it the products I used? I didn’t know. With these thoughts running rampant, I had to give it over to God. Given my predicament, my family and I started to eat healthier. I also started paying more attention to the everyday products we used on our skin especially after having a baby who had very sensitive skin. Reading some of the labels, like most people, I was confused. I didn’t know how to pronounce some of the ingredients and was subsequently shocked as I didn’t know I was putting harmful toxins into our bodies. It was important I start treating my body like the precious Jewel it is!!! In preparation for brain surgery and wanting a healthy scalp free from harmful toxins before and after surgery, Melanin Jewel was created. Through trial and error, I started with making natural shampoos and hair oil using all natural ingredients. They were all free of synthetic chemicals, were cruelty free, and most importantly, I could pronounce all of the ingredients that were in my product. This then lead me to making body oils, body butter, exfoliating scrubs, soaps, deodorant and much more. These products helped to moisturize, hydrate, heal, and protect my hair and skin. Melanin Jewel was created through challenge. That challenge became my motivation to live more consciously. I am elated to share these products with you! Products that allow us all to live and be the Jewels we are meant to be!!!
