Did you know there are thousands of dogs living chained outside right now in Flint, MI?

They live outside 24/7. Why? That’s the million-dollar question.

We can tell you all the reasons owners give us, but honestly, you probably wouldn’t understand. Their answers aren’t good enough. Unfortunately, there are no laws here specifically against keeping dogs chained outside, and the laws we do have can be incredibly difficult to enforce.

So we do what we can.

We are a group of volunteers who help as many of these dogs as possible. We bring supplies, work with owners, and try to get dogs surrendered one by one.

When a dog is finally surrendered, we take them to the vet, get them healthy, and find them loving homes. ❤️

One of the biggest problems we fight while helping dogs forced to live outside is FLEAS.

These dogs can literally have fleas crawling all over them.

I once had a sheriff tell me, “There’s nothing I can do about bugs,” when newborn puppies were in a doghouse with fleas crawling in and out of their eyes and mouths.

We rescued those puppies and their mom. ❤️

But what about all the others?

🐾 HERE’S WHAT WE CAN DO.

We can provide monthly chewable flea prevention, which is often more effective and practical for the dogs we are helping than topical prevention.

The problem?

It’s expensive. And they need it every single month.

We need approximately 120 doses every month.

We haven’t been able to afford that consistently in the past, but we are determined to make a real difference this summer.

And now we have some incredible news:

If we didn’t help these dogs, many of them would still be out there.

They would still be chained outside.
They would still be scratching.

And they would have no flea prevention and no hope of ever being surrendered and rescued.

And it’s not just outdoor dogs.

Just because a dog lives inside doesn’t mean they are flea-free. We see fleas in many of the homes we visit, too.

These dogs didn’t choose this life.

But together, we can make their lives a little more comfortable while we work toward changing their futures. 🐾❤️
