I received some interesting questions about our 100% cotton cloth wipes over the weekend, and wanted to share here!

Q: Are they just for babies?
A: Not at all. They’re multi-use just like any baby wipe - I still wipe my kids’ faces with them, and they’re well out of the baby and diaper stage!

Q: So the p**p grosses me out. Logically it makes sense to just wash them like a cloth diaper or dirty underwear, should I just throw away the cloth wipe?
A: You could, but please don’t! I totally get that the “ick” factor is very real. One thing that I have seen people do is use the cloth wipes for everything EXCEPT p**p, and have a package of disposable wipes on hand for the bigger messes. Then your cloth wipes are just used for wet diaper changes, or wiping faces/hands/everything else. Usually you’ll only use 1 or 2 disposable wipes each day, instead of 10+. Still Being eco-friendly, but then you don’t have to force yourself to do something uncomfortable.

Q: What’s the difference between single ply and double ply? Do they fall apart?
A: No, they don’t fall apart unless you’re scrubbing your cast-iron pots with them! (And please don’t 😂). Single- and double-ply just means how many layers of flannel fabric. In most cases, a single layer is perfectly fine for use. I always liked having a few double-ply wipes for messier wiping, like poo or spilled food. More absorbency and less chance of something seeping through. About 8/10 people find the single-ply works just fine!

Q: Do I use them wet or dry? How do they stay wet?
A: You can use them either way, but a little moisture helps clean better than dry. You can either keep them in a little container (anything from a small Tupperware to a reused plastic wipe container) with a small amount of water, and a tiny bit of mild cleanser if you want, or keep a spray bottle near your stack of dry wipes and spritz the wipe before use. I suggest spritzing the wipe, though, and not the baby!
