If you know anything about it, you know how challenging it can be. The list of triggers is long and the symptoms vary from person to person, but it typically is more than just redness and flushing on the face.

May is Melanoma Awareness Month. The first Monday in May is Melanoma Monday.
Besides getting yearly full body checks, you should keep tabs on your moles throughout the year. The ABCDE checklist can help you determine if you should see a dermatologist sooner than your next yearly visit.
ASYMMETRY One half of the mole does not match the other
BORDER The edges of the lesion are uneven, blurred or notched
COLOR A mole is more than one color
DIAMETER Having a width of more than 6 mm
EVOLVING A lesion that changes in color, shape, size, elevation, or begins to crust or itch
Please know that these are generalizations~
Just because one of your moles has one of these features does not automatically mean it is skin cancer. It does, however, mean you should contact your dermatologist to get it officially checked out.
