Let’s talk about something that isn’t always fun to talk about: cancellation and no-show fees.

When you book an appointment with any of us in the salon—whether it’s a spray tan with me at Farmer's Tan, hair with one of our two hairstylists, nails with our nail tech, or a service with our esthetician —you aren’t just putting your name on a calendar.

You are reserving someone’s time. And our time is how we make our living.

A spray tan may only take 20 minutes. A nail or esthetic appointment may take an hour or more. A hairstylist may reserve several hours for one client.

Regardless of the service, once that time is reserved for you, it is no longer available for someone else to book.

That’s why we have cancellation policies.

When you schedule an appointment with any of us, you are agreeing to pay the applicable cancellation fee if you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment OR if you do not show up.

Of course, life happens. Kids get sick. Emergencies come up. Cars break down. We understand that because we have lives and families, too.

BUT our business expenses don’t disappear when an appointment does.

A last-minute cancellation or no-show means that provider has likely lost the opportunity to fill that time—and therefore lost the income that came with it.

A cancellation fee isn’t charging you for a service you didn’t receive. It’s protecting the time you reserved and agreed to pay for if you didn’t give enough notice to make that time available to someone else.

And while we’re talking about it, we genuinely appreciate the clients who understand that and pay their cancellation fee without arguing, complaining, or making us feel guilty for enforcing a policy they agreed to when they booked.

Trust us—we don’t enjoy charging cancellation fees. We would much rather have you show up and provide the service you booked!

Each of us runs our own business and may have policies specific to our services, but the principle is the same:

Please respect the appointment time you reserve.

We’ll always extend grace when we can. But grace and good business boundaries can exist at the same time.

To everyone who shows up, communicates with us, gives us proper notice when plans change, and respects our policies when they have to be enforced—THANK YOU. ❤️
